well, usually the average person has 4 careers in there lifetime. yesterday was the first one I actually quit. Before I worked here, i was in the Air Force for 4 years as an avionics tech. quite the change to what i just was doing.

I have spent the last 2 years as a Financial advisor with an investment company in Tacoma, Washington.

It wasn't about money, It was about the company and the environment. My office alone had over $1,000,000 withdrawn from accounts due to lack of service. We have lost 2 managers in the last 3 months because they went to better opportunities or couldn't cut it. Our office administrator (person who process all paperwork, investments, and account applications) is quitting. We have a lack of marketing that kills our business. Basically the company is going downhill and our office is crumbling. I had to get out before it took me down to.

I have enough money to last me until maybe march and not have to worry about getting a new job. i'm thinking about taking some time off and just snowboarding all winter.

ha! nice.

so, are you actually changing careers (meaning, getting out of finacials) or just out of that company?

my dad does what you just quit...he makes tons of $$$

what next?

i'm probably going to stay in the finance industry. but it's going to be a big change. Something in the war room. Financial Analyst or Investment Manager. Looking into the operations side. Maybe Russell Group (the guys from the Russell indexes). There home office is in Tacoma and they are always rated as a top company to work for.
lmao...thanks brother, no more aircraft for me though.

lots of snowboarding. but yeah, the money was good, but the market is flooded right now. i use to do workshops on investing and that brought in a lot of business. but now it's flooded and making it difficult here on the west coast.

hahaha, you're right, those are far from careers. getting licensed, bonded and ensured is a little better.

I have an active series 7 and 66 licenses, life and disability insurance and long term care licenses. I can sell pretty much anything, but i want to get out of that and work something not commission related.

good luck
commission based jobs usually net more $$$

thank you. you are right though. commission jobs do pay more. but my work is very seasonal to. the middle of summer and during the holidays are fucking dead. i would like something a lot more stable.

thats true, where did you recieve you licensing (spll)?

through my company. the company is Waddell & Reed. not real big, but they are nationwide. i got a job there then got licensed. now i'm on the market :)

with all your free time, SVT could use some posting :p
werd. been thinking about that. i just need to get some articles figured out. trying to fill in the gaps on threads that don't have anything.

want a wife? hahaha jk.

i always said 'if you're rich, i'm single'

my how things have changed.... congrats (i think?) on the hiatus... hope you find something that works out much better than before. in my case, i've found the jobs that i love the most just kind of 'happen' to me anyway... do some things you want to do. looks like you've budgeted yourself out well enough. just goes to show us all that we need to be prepared for those things and save up!
