Was wondering if it was possible to put the 1991 Acura Integra motor (B18A1) into my 1989 Honda prelude 2.0 si. I had wrecked my integra but the motor is still good and I just recently bought this prelude. If it's possible can someone point me into a direction of where to get the mounts and how much money I'd be spending to do this swap?

Well I've heard that my motor isn't all that great and not much can be done to it.. And It has a lot of miles. Should I just stick with that then?

yea i would keep what you got if anything the only motor swap i would do to a prelude would be a h22a

the car is lighter....therefore not needing as much tq, and the engine bay is smaller than the 4th gen ludes so a smaller motor would make it much easier to swap in....there have also been b16's done in that chasis while im not sure of how many h22's have been done in it.

well i guess your right but if he wonts to go fast in a straight line i would put the h in there ive owned a few now and it was in a hatch, and i havent seen the h in a older lude either but i hear the they make motor mounts for the swap now

i also have an h22...and its in a pig of a car...but your rational doesnt make sence to me. if you want to go fast in a straight line any motor can get you fast. the h22 is not the only motor out there. the b16 is a good one, k20, b18, etc are all good motors and can get you what you want. it all depends on how much money you want....hell an f22 can be fast too.

a lsvtec civic stayed door to door with me at the track until about the 1000ft. ls bottom end and b16 head. and that is a much cheaper build than the h22

all im saying out of the box the h22a has more tork than any of them besides the new k.( fwd motors ) its a 2300 dollar swap, and for that you get a motor with tork in stock trim you will have to build the heak out of a b to get that much tork, unless you turbo it.ive also built sevral b series the hp was great but the tork wasent

tq isnt everything. how about weight, gearing etc? for some reason i dont believe that you have "built" all of these motors. you are like talking to a brick wall...if its not an h22 it isnt shit:confused:

well sorry if you dont beleve me ive been doing this sence 1996 and actuly my fav motor is a b16b, all im saying once again is if you wont a motor out of the box and leve it stock i would go with a h22a, other than that a b or a k is the way to go,

so it would cost around 2200 to put the b18A1 in there... isn't it basically the same thing as the b16 or somin

yea when its all said and done yea it will cost around that a b18a1 is from a 90-93 non vtec integra,,but in my opinion its not gona give you more power than what you got, but the b series is a great motor so turbo it and you will love it

OMG.
I swear, Integra drivers THINK they know everything...wow. I used to be one. Integra driver that is...

You cannot swap just any motor in a 88-91 Prelude. The Ba4 motors slant back, aka "gangsta lean." The mounts would be 100% fabricated to put in a weak-sauced b18a. That is an insult. The b20a5 is so much more better, and so much
more torqueier. Plus, i dont think the d2j3 tranny will work with the b18a...

Again, no head swap can be done a b20ax motor. NO b16, no b18 etc etc. It's been done yes, but oiling problems again, because the motor leans back.

good luck man~!^_^

finaly, thank you for clearing that up im with you;)

i love it when people dont know how to speak english.

the "gangsta lean" could be fixed with the fabed up mounts. so you cannot say it wouldnt work....i dont reccomend it. get a crx and go from there.

the motor leans back towards the fire wall in a 3rd gen lude. they did this to get the lowest hoodline possible. to compensate Honda angled all of the strut & spring assemblies slightly forward. this resulted in great handling, a positive side affect of angling them forward.

I think Brian was trying to say that if you put a B18 in a 3rd gen lude. then you can't lean the motor back because the oiling system on the b18 was not designed like that. plus if you mount it straight up like in the teggy then chances are that motor will sit too high or too low in the engine bay.

offcourse you can put any motor into any car and make it work. you just have to have the $$$. this may be the point of this hole thing.

WOW.
You sound like a narcisist Prelude driver...let me guess...you own an Accord with an H22? do you call yourself, "ACCLUDE?" or "PRECORD?"
I made a simple mistake in spelling.
I was excited to find a new site.
WOW.

...and get a CRX?
<Hangs head down, frowns and thinks, "even on boards i think are cool and calm, i still find cynical people all over.">

hey, im new here.
Cut me some slack.
...and you own an Accord.
Please, if you have nothing to add to the thread, dont post.
Dont act like you OWN a real, HONDA PRELUDE.

...

and put in a b16 in a 2700lb car? WOW. That makes a lot of sense doesn't it? Our engine bays are small? Uhhh...
...sure, the b16a/b is a great motor. High revving, high-end power motor & one of the best, mass produced Vtec motors ever built. BUT, it has no low end power. Please, why dont you find someone with a 3g Prelude, drive it and try to understand what makes that car move. Dont assume like you are. B16's belong in bubbles and CRX's. They are made for that chassis. Yes, and I agree with you though, Ls/Vtec can be solid and produce a lot of power. I've driven a b20z/vtec setup and i was amazed.

KTHNXBYE.

Oh and Eludethis.
I think TUNA would love this place...his brand of humor would fit into a place where "ACCLUDES" & "PRECORDS" roam.
HAHAHA!
