i have a 1997 gsr with a stock motor and was wondering what the max psi i can run without blowing my motor i wanna do more upgrades but i want the turbo first im only looking at gaining like 100hp

What kind of question is that?

and ahhvtec, can you tell me my future?

No one can give you even close to a legitimate answer, you didn't say what kind of turbo you we're looking at, no kit, you didn't say anything.

notice i said if it was me,and whats wrong with what he asked? and any honda motor should be safe up to 7psi. and what would you like to know about your future?

it duznt matter if ur running something as small as a t25 or something as big as a super t70 tuning is wat matters... u could be running 5 psi on a bad tune and still blow shit up, anyways... i say on a GSR 8 or 10 is even safe on a good tune.. providing u have all the fun stuff like injectors, fuel pump to be safe and maybe even a wide band air fuel gauge so i know wats happening or a EGT im running 8 on a stock b16 with a t3/t04E doing just fine...

im not looking at any perticular turbo right now im new at this i know motors but my knowledge of turbos is minimal i know with my a higher cr its less psi

and u know wat thats only true to a point.. its getting the perfect amount of air and the perfect amount of fuel.

dont quote me on this and someone plz correct me if im wrong, but from my understanding, more compression = more heat which = more chances of detonation...when u throw more air into ur car and its not getting the extra fuel, the compressed air gets hotter than it allrdy is, which could make it ignite before the spark plug ignites it (spontanious combustion), which sends a vibration threw ur cylinder walls which on stock internals on a non turbo car will blow shit up..its detonation i dont know if u know wat it is.. but now u do :p

u get wat u pay for, ebay shit is shit most ppl will tell u, some ppl have luck with themm.. but the manifolds crack usually, ull get post telling u this soon, try and get something reputable... but wait and see wat other ppl say

pissedoffsol makes a very good comment. While I get my B16 ready I'm running a D16A6 with 12 pounds of boost. As long as I keep the AF ratio's safe I can't hurt it. But in my case the weak link is the clutch, as soon as I hit torque peak at full boost the clutch slips. So I drive around and feather it while on boost. I think you will find out that you have to upgrade all the systems to support the turbo beyond a very base line amount of boost. If you get a good tune going @ say 10 psi, the clutch won't hold or you will start to have CV problems.

yes i mentioned that allrdy

pressue doesn't break stuff.

power and impropper fuel mixtures do.

wheter its 1 psi, or 100
Well pressure is basically extra air and if there isn't enough fuel the engine heats up quicker which (if you're stupid enough to not notice) could melt the engine components together. I'm not sure about the whole spontaneous combustion thing but I agree with pissedoffsol here.

A friend of mine bought one of those e-bay turbo kits and his manifold cracked a month after the install.

some og the stuf on ebay does work well believe it or not. the tial knockoffs seen to work fine and even have tial etched into them lol. i had no problem with the xs power bov but the wastegate blew ass for me. as for power i would say 275whp stock gsr with someone who knew how to tune and it would be very reliable.
