I have a 95 ex with a d16z6 in it. Without swapping for a B16 or doing and major engine work, what can I do to it to give it a bit more up and go. I Just put on a cold air intake and exhaust is next on the list.... ANy other suggestions like injectors or manifolds or anything? And to turbo it does it only take a bit of head work? Oh yea and my car already has 125k on it.

WHat would you guys recommend for a decent exhaust? I really like the sound that apexi puts out but Its a bit more pricey. Are DCS 4-2-1 headers good?

magnaflow 2.5 inch stainless steel mandrel bent piping.

2.5????????????? on a sohc????????? :wtf: 2.5 on a sohc is way, WAY too big. you will KILL any and all exhaust velocity and scavenging by running piping that big on an engine that small. the only reason you should have that big of piping on a 1.6 sohc is if you are turbo or super. 2" is perfect for d-series, 2.25" for b-series, 2.5 for h-series. i think i already covered this once, or am i just experiencing deja-vu???????????

oh yeah, dc sports are WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY over-priced. i would go with a megan racing header. i put one on my car and i am extremely happy with it, meganracing.com or you could also try ebay but be careful, you don't want to buy a crap header. not everything on ebay is crap though, just pay a lot of attention to the feedback of the seller.

I say spring for a Jackson racing superchager. Everything comes in the kit.

Okay, first things first....anyone who puts a supercharger on a 1.6L SOHC engine is stupid! Superchargers are based on the speed of your belts...most superchargers are used with bigger engines...V6 and V8....If your looking for big numbers go TURBO!!! Gettting your D16Z6 major power is mostly in your tuning...everyone can argue about what to do---but most will agree that tuning is the most important part of getting big hp numbers from your car...and the best way to prolong your engines life. Now, I know you arent looking to spend a lot of money...so my opinion would be Cold Air intake, 2.0" to 2.25" piping for an exhaust, and turbo manifold...the moanifolds are mostly "log" manifolds, but will give a little more power.. You also asked what it would take to turbo you car....I have a 1995 Honda Del Sol with a 1.6L SOHC VTEC D16Z6....and I have my car turboed...I wasnt going for 400+hp...just for good 'get up and go'...my car dynoed at 266hp...so its not a monster....but if your looking to turbo your D16 for cheap I can help you out....I turboed my car for under $2000.00. which...over all isnt bad....Here is a list of everything I have dont eo my D16Z6...
p.s. youre going to want to build bottom end not so much top.
CP pistons and bearings
Eagle Rods
metal head gasket
Front Mount Intercooler with piping
HKS blow off valve
walbro fuel pump
450CC injectors
ARP head bolts
XTD Stage 3 racing clutch and a lightened 9lbs. fly wheel
A T-25 Turbo (with internal Actuator (wastegate) )
oil feed line kit
and finally a Hondata S200 system with boost option enabled.
Thats everything I have for my turbo set up and I am running around 266 hp....I did all of that for under $2000.00......If your looking to turbo you car for around that money....let me know, I can hook you up with places to get good deals...and VERY RELIABLE MERCHANDISE!
Goodluck

Are you trying to imply that belt speed is proportional to engine size??? I call shenanigans on the price, there is no way that you can reliably get all that for less than $2000 unless you are buying stolen parts.

the higher the redline the faster the belts go. the reason they don't turbo old v8s and v6s is because it doesn't work very well with carbed engines and supercharging is a lot easier to do. it doesn't require as much to put a supercharger on a car. and also, the amount of psi going into a supercharger is determined by the pulley you put on the supercharger. retard.

hmmm, thats awesome considering most hondas redline around 7,000rpms.... I would love to see someone in person with a supercharger on their honda that makes more horsepower than a turbo...im not saying supercharging doesnt produce power....I know they do, wether its on a 4-cyl, 6cyl, 8cyl...ect....No one is arguing that point...I simply stated...You wont see the horsepower from a supercharger on a 1.6L SOHC engine as you would with a Turbo kit....so my basic point in my message was if your going to spend the money to put a supercharger on -you might as well spend a little bit more and turbo the damn thing...you'll see better hp numbers and wont be spending that much more...plus...the spooling of a turbo and the sound of a blow off valve are one of a kind.

Oh - and a post script to "lsvtec" You can say what you want about my turbo setup....but they are all brand name parts that work perfectly fine, and arent stolen....I got them all from companies not shady people in a dark alley! I have reciepts and paper work on every item I bought to turbo my car...from something as expensive as a fuel management system to something as small as the gaskets.....Im not trying to argue with you im not trying to race you...just trying to offer a cheaper solution to those wanting to have the joy of driving a boosted honda

^ well, this has been beaten to death 4589696893896509489 times on here . . . but one more time is ok i guess :shrug2:

somebody is getting a little defensive...... and just so you know, most sohc hondas redline at around 7000, the rest are actually quite a bit higher
