**I wasn't sure where to post this so move it if it's not in the right place**

I bought a 91 RCX Si and the vehicle had no title but I did do a carfax and the Vehicle wasnt stolen. The guy said he bought it 5 years ago without a Title so I most likley could not find the original owner. How would I go by registering it? Would I have to get a Salvage Title of some sort or is it even possible to register a vehicle under a Salvage Title? I live in Texas if the law changes which Im not sure. Will someone please message me as to where I could start or if they know if its possible to get it registered somehow?

Thank you.

uhm... you're fucked basically

if you have a shop you can try to get a mechanics lien, then after 30 days you can get a title, but usually when you buy a car with no title you are of the understanding it cannot ever be legally driven on the road

salvage title will not help you in any way

yeah, you can re-title a vehicle without a title, so long as you have a bill of sale from the last owner who HAD a title.

If you can't get a hold of the original owner, it's not that hard to "find" a bill of sale from him.

i have done the same thing i bought a teg from a mechanic that was fixing the car and the people never came back so it has like 2500 in storge fees i have parers from the guy saying they have to pay money and a bill of sale so how would i
go about getting the Title

i've registered a car without the title.. they just had to look it up and print me a new one.. the put it in writing that he had lost it and the DMV took it

car fax gets their info FROM the dmv among other sources
DMV knows more than carfax, but i doubt they will accept a carfax as proof that you are the rightful owner of the car...

i was asking do the dmv do car fax cuz i dont have credit card

So it's completley possible to get the vehicle registered and a title.

About the bill of sale?
Does it need to be one that the DMV issues, I know they have a bill of sale form.
Or can it just be a notorized bill of sale typed up?

Pretty sure as long as the terms are stated and it's signed by both parties they don't care.

I found this right off the DMV website.

Lost title papers (unknown owner):
If you are in possession of a vehicle and all logical methods have failed to find either its paperwork or its previous owner, you may apply for a bonded title. This is a title that requires that you purchase a bond to potentially reimburse a legitimate owner if and when he or she shows up to claim the vehicle. In this situation, you will also have to fill out the Statement of Fact supplement (Form 130-SOF) in addition to the title application (Form 130-U). After three years of holding a bonded title, a regular title can then be issued to you.

keep reading on the dmv site, see if you can find something regarding a bill of sale

i found out my stolen car was recovered with a carfax
lol
