J32A2 engine in 97 Accord.

Hello all,
I'm new to the site. I have a 1997 Honda Accord EX coupe with a 2.2L Vtec engine. I'm looking to do an engine swap and I want to get the most HP possible in a swap. I work at a big auto shop, so money and labor is not an issue. Is the J32A2 from an Acura 3.2CL Type-S a good swap? It'll bring my 145hp 2.2L to a 260hp 3.2L. Will the mounts match up? What else is needed? Wondering if anyone has seen this done...thanks!

just put a h22a in there the 220hp modle it will drop right in and hook right up you can even use the accord tranny if you wont to

A better choice than the V6 would be a K24 from a TSX, or a K24 block from the newer Accord or Element paired with an RSX Type-S or Type-R head. Either of those setups would net you around 200 horsepower right off the bat, plus they respond excellently to tuning. A motor like that, when paired with intake/header/exhaust, some cams, possibly some headwork, and a good tuning with k-pro or something similar would net you V6 power plus it will be a much easier install. With that V6 you're looking at a completely custom install, whereas they have mounting kits available for swapping a k-motor into an Accord.

That's what I would do if I were you.

Sorry about that, meant 220hp.;)

*Cough* K24 would be better and easier to make power on *Cough*

The 220hp version of the H22 is a lot more expensive then most other versions of the motor, plus it's a nightmare to wire up. I'd either go with a standard 200 hp OBD2 H22 swap or just go all out and go the K24 route, much better motor than the H22 in my opinion. Like I said, with bolt-ons and some headwork and tuning you can make numbers in the range of 250ish horsepower. Add some boost, and you're looking at 300-400 hp depending on your boost levels, and that's on stock internals.

i like the k series better also but it will cost about 7-9 grand by the time is going

the j series v6 will not in any way shape or form mount up to your chasis.

my h22 with a few bolt ons has no problem with the k20 civics and rsx's

if you have the money the k24 bottom end with a k20 head would be the best way to go, those motors are extremely efficient.

also the 94+ accord came stock with v6 motors so it might fit but im not sure

Nope, won't work. The 95-97 V6 Accords had slightly longer front ends to fit the larger motors. That V6 that they put in it was different than the current J-series motors also, I think it was a C-series and it only made like 175 hp and only available in automatic, so basically it's a piece of junk in my opinion. You'd be better off with an H22 swaped Accord than the 95-97 V6 Accord.

correction 95+ and yes they are the c series not the j.

the chassis is also different on the v6 (95-97) accords than the 4 cylinder. the v6 wouldnt fit. they had to lengthen the nose 3 inches to get the v6 in there

ahh yea darn i remeber now,, and yes its a c series
