Ok, heres what I've got- nothing, lol. I'm on a budget of close to 6k, n would love to do an engine swap, but I'mma noob. I've spent many days looking through this site, n honda-tech but I'd like someone just to lay it all out. I'm thinking about getting a del-sol from the junkyard, n dropping a b16a in it, from passwordjdm. or maybe getting a civic n putting a b18c1 in it. I'm not sure, this would be my first engine swap n I'd like something pretty easy n pretty quick. I just sold my 2002 mercury cougar so this is my next baby, n I love sols. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i would say avoid the b16. personally it doesnt have enough torque for me. i say go for the b18. b series motors are easy to put in, but it helps to have someone who knows what theyre doing. whatever shell you get is completely up to you. if you like the del sol get the del sol.

ok. thanks. im thinking of using the del sol shell n putting the b18c1. i like the gsr, good hp n torque n good price. i unfortunatley dont know anyone who knows how to do this, so im going to wing it. shops seem exspensive n i wanna learn. any tips or sugestions?

thanks again.

since you are new to this you are going to want to start with something easy, if you really do have a budget of 6k then i would suggest going with the b16 its easy to do and you should still have enough money to mod it with a turbo or some basic bolt-ons. i would also suggest that you go with an ek shell but thats my opinion and im a little biased

ek shell wouldnt be bad. i like sols, but im not completely sold on them. i just dont want to be like the rest of these katz around here where i live driving a civic thats lowered n got an exhaust.

lol, very true. i like civics dont get me wrong, i just like del sols a bit better. the shell ive yet to decide on, but after all the reading n such i think the gsr swap is the engine im looking for. any suggestions on which year is the easiest/tips on how to do the engine swap right n easy? its my first time, n ive researched a lot but ill take all the tips i can get.

delsols are realatively on the heavyside. I'd go with a motor that's-
reasonable on the wallet,
has good torque,
that can be easily upgraded later.

B18B- easy to wire non vtec, & will cost you less (140ish-hp stock); Or
B18C- a tiny more challenging to do, & costs more (170ish-hp stock)

alright. thank you. i just realized that the sols were on the heavy side. im looking for a good motor, n something that will be a show car- but i do want power to spank thew stangs. im thinking the b18c- or b18c5 depending on the money. lol. anyone know of any good shops to have check my work, cause i might screw something up, i live in western pa? n is passwordjdm a reliable place to get a motor?

not so sure that setup will spank 8cylinder 'stangs ... close enuf

lol My P.O.S. dx blew by a 'stang today ... as he tried to gun away from me on the rainy road, he 360ed into the other side.

Go with hmotorsonline.com for your swap. They are a real help if you need it and their price and guarantees are real good. For starters you will need all the basics like new water pump, timing belt, plugs, wires, etc. once you get your motor, a good set of mounts will help too. Once you get everything it shouldnt be too hard to do, just seems a little overwhelming on your first swap. Get the shell and motor, then come onto the forums for help, might be easier when you have everything.

Yes i agree. thank you. i was looking at the site, and knowing that people on here like them that makes me happy. i appreciate all the help, i'm going to start shopping and ill be back for help- these forums and the people here are really helpful.

Why not go with an H-series motor? You say ur gonna show it but want to spank 'stangs. Not out of the realm of possibility, just gotta start with the right canvas. I am building a '95 Civic CX (hatch) and doing an H22A with a lot of head work. Ive been told I can get about 280 whp out of just the motor

Take it from me, total NOOB! I to had the same worries about my first swap,ek b18c5.I thought I'd screw things up but if you've turned wrenches before, basic bolt-ons, you can do it.I recomend buying "HONDA SWAPS" by Arron Bonk. Its a how-to book about all honda swaps. It really helped me alot.As for the engine, being your first swap I'd say go with the B-series, a few mounts, axles and your set, no figuring out wire harnesses.Thats going to be the most confusing part of the swap.TIP:double check all your parts before you start, make sure you have everything you need. If you have to wait for parts in the middle of the swap you risk forgetting shit.Or maybe I smoked too much pot?

Lol I'm not sure, but I will definatley take your advice- I may hae smoked too much as well. Thank you for the advice, and that book I was actually planning on getting- glad to hear its useful. The wiring harness does sound like the hardest part, but as long as its a vtec sol with the same obd series should be fine. thank you all for your help, its appreciated.

P.S.- I wouldnt mind using h22a, but its a lot more work from what ive heard n I'm a noob- no mechanical experience just some bolt-on mods that were easy. not to mention the base of the b-series engine sounds nicer, lower compession etc. n my friend had a lude, he stripped the a/c n powersteering n lowered it about 2".. but that blew up because he rode it too hard n redlined it.

You'll still have wiring to do if you get a b18c1(IAB, knock sensor) but it's not a big deal. For the price, ease of installation, power, and parts availability, I would go with the b18c1. But that's just my opinion.

someone lied to you. i dont think you realize how much work it takes to get 280 to the WHEELS on an h22. 250s pushin it.
