norton: biggest piece of spyware ever made.

delete that shit. get AVG

looking for suggestions for a complete protection package

one of the machines in my office is going off norton on dec 15th and i'm looking for a better alternative

i was looking at AVG and there appears to be a free version as well as anti virus, anti spyware, anti malware

whats my best bet here?

and whats the opinion of windows defender or whatever windows anti virus is called?

No way, KDE is way better. Gnome has a tendency to hide things from you and take away options. I dislike it for the same reason I hated OS9, it assumes the user is a total moron and there was no way to convince it otherwise.

To answer your question with a windows os in use, avg is hte way to go these days

i like the OS thinking im stupid when im on a linux box. because its right. i can work with linux, but i know windows 10,000 times better.

I found I learned the most about Linux when I broke things :)

On topic, I still operate with the idea that the best protection from malware on windows is the user. That being said, all (and I mean all) I do on Windows is play Counter-Strike. Everything else happens on the Linux side.

I tried AVG and it was okay.. Im still a Norton's slut, but someday I may move to linux... Just need to get a mobo and a hard drive..

AVG for me. I had to convince my parents that norton and aol sucked. They finally got DSL, I spent half a day removing aol and norton, and loaded up firefox and avg. Life is good now.

yeah, its nearly twice as much, and firefox is free.

malware = ie.

i've yet to get one piece through firefox.
