i got a b16 and have a little money to throw around. whats some ways to make vtec hit harder? or just more topend power in general

you can get a half tank of Chevron w/ Techron and half tank of Shell V-power and you'll have VTEC gas.. different cams will definitly do it.. my CTR cams make mine scream

Wow.

Nos, Turbo, or Cams . . . or all 3.

Use the search function for answers to the questions you may have after reading this thread like: What Nos Kit/Turbo Kit/Cams should i get? Do I need any other parts?

people just never understand....if tuned right, vtec should not KICK. you should feel an increase in power, but it would not be like hitting a nitrous button.

or he could just make it turn on later... like 6k

but thats gay, you should'nt feel the x point at all....

i thought about boost but there is one one shop close to get it tuned and since they are really the only shop like that they pretty much charge what they want. and i live in hickville where they just drive mustangs, camaros, or 4x4s. and the people that have civics or any honda, they just make noise! Is any one close that knows how to tune? and thanks for the info

VTEC engagement should be smooth, it's a transition MORE THAN a change over.

Granted, my old B16A CRX "felt" like nitrous when VTEC engaged, but it smoothly transitioned into it and pulled massively harder, noticably. The motor was all stock, just a swap.

People want VTEC to rip into action like that's how it works. Those parts that make that happened are govenerned by electricity and smooth metal pieces gliding through tight tolerances with lube. If it KICKS into play, something's up (or your head's built like that). But normally, VTEC's actuation should be smooth, but powerful.

There's no easing into vtec, its either on or off. No inbetween. However, if you're fuel maps are setup right you shouldn't feel a jolt, you should just start producing more power more quickly.

Get a V-AFC, set the VTEC crossover to 7000rpm, take out 15% of your fuel at full throttle, then go play in the street until the engine blows up.
