This aint no SOHC..
im looking into a k series for my 7th gen and im not a hundred percent if its necessary to buy the type r. i wanted to know if i was to get a jdm type r k20a or a type s usdm k20a if there was any difference if i was to completely build the block. i want to end up having the most powerfull k series i can possibly swap im i got 10 grand for the motor so just let me know what the bset combo of k20 if its a frankenstein. but if i was to build the motor with all new internals and all the whole 9 yards, would it matter if i started of with the jdm k20 or a usdm rsx base engine.. let me know and thanks for the help
 
abnd also i plan on turboing it with a Full Race turbo kit so im building the motor to handle a turbo as well
 
why a high compression type r k series??????
just go with a type s
 
so your saying i should go with a type s usdm motor and then im going rebuild the engine almost completely and then i want to match it up with a type r tranny sound good? and anyone know where i can get a type s engine, just the engine no package?
 
why r u gunna rebulid the engine how much boost r u planning to run???

u dint need to rebulid it if ur gunna run 10 psi or under...
ur best bet would be find one used ur from ny???

im just making sure i do this one right, i dont want to cut any corners and no shortcut taken, i dont mind if it takes a year to finish as long as i got it all together and im smokin domestics its all good..

buy a civic dx.
slap on a 75 shot.

if you're going all out---
score a TSX k24 bottom end
JDM ITR k20 head
JDM ITR k20 tranny
hondata k-pro
and the internals of your choice.
 
and then would it be safe if i changed over all the internals to change to a turbo setup and that bottom end is strong enough for it?
 
yea thats whats im lookin to do im going to a shop around here to do it , it should be done in like january febuary, ill let you guys know how it goes... k24a2 bottom end and a k20a2 head, sleeved port n polish, hondata k pro, full race turbo kit and a bunch of other goodies.. ill keep it updated

hey You dont need a pnp head... flow bench testing was already done on the K-series and they outflow a PORTED B Series head STOCK
 
yes haha... ago some weeks ive seen a K20A2 EDM into EP3 Type-R boosted making 391HP.. ..stock engine.. i love the k20s engines (less A3 of course hahah).. and some B-series :D
 
so whats the verdict my friend?

ive heard awesome things about the k24 with type-s head.

and if you're gonna build up the motor, whats the point in going with the base type rsx motor (it has low compression ratio)?

also i dont believe there are much differences in the BLOCK of a k20a or k20a2 or k20a3

btw, i have a k20a3 for sale if you're intersted :D
