H22 swap into 93 Accord with aoto to manual tranny conv.

I have a 1993 4-door Accord that has stock engine and automatic transmission. I'm looking into buying an H22 engine for it. My brother directed me to a website that sells JDM and USDM engines, parts, etc... passwordjdm.com. They have the engine that I would want, the H22 with LSD tranny complete swap, click here, for $2499.99 plus shipping. They state that the package includes: "Hydraulic transmission, LSD, Complete Swap, Includes motor, tranny, clutch/flywheel, axles, ecu, shift linkage, all attached components, starter, alternator, sensor, t.body, distributor." I want to convert the transmission in the accord from the automatic to a 5-speed at the same time that I swap the engine. My question is what all will I need, besides what comes in the package, to make the engine and tranny swap successful? Also where can I find these extra parts and how much will they cost? Any help would be much appreciated as I am new to this site.

might wanna get your H22 from Hmotorsonline. they are far cheaper and have a better reputation with the motors they deliver. you will need the clutch cable, pedal assembly and cylinders. i know that much. you will probably need some other items, but ive never personally done the swap, so ill wait for someone else to fill in the rest.

Alright, so if I go with hmotorsonline.com they're asking $2199.00 but I want the LSD tranny which is an additional $300 so it almost evens out at $2499.00 plus shipping. As for reputation goes, I'll take your word for it unless anybody else has a suggestion or disagrees. But if I do go with hmotorsonline.com then I will be getting the motor, hydrolic tranny, ecu, axles and half shaft, shifter cables, shifter assembly, stock motor mounts, alternator, starter, clutch, flywheel, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, fuel rail, injectors, distributor engine harness, all sensors, and I will be getting the LSD tranny. So what will I need after all of this?

I looked into this swap for my 1991 Accord, it's basically the same for all 90-93s. You will still need the shifter assembly/cables/pedal assembly/clutch master cyl + lines and all that from a 90-93 stick Accord. You'll obviously want a tach cluster if you don't have a tach. I think I remember hearing something about one of the motor mounts is different between stick and auto cars- rear subframe mount maybe? I might be thinking of a different car/swap on that...
You will also need the Prelude power steering pump and pressure line that goes from the rack to the pump. I don't remember exactly why but apparently you can't use the Accord stuff without doing some seriously questionable shitrigging so everybody just uses the Prelude parts.
You will need to run additional wiring for vtec and the intake runner butterfly control, and iirc there is 1 or 2 more sensors that need to be wired. Also I think there is something about the dist/ign coil wiring you have to modify since the Accord uses an internal coil and the Prelude is external(?). But then that was on my 1991 so if yours is a 93 I *think* you should have an external?

Other than that you can use stock Accord motor mounts, axles, injector resistor module, etc etc. Other than the couple little tricks above this is one of the most straightforward Honda swaps you can do. Drop it in, get it all wired up and go haul ass

You can use the accord power steering pump and line if you wish. You just have to get a 44" belt. It is advisable to get the prelude pressure line and use the prelude pump.

YOu can use the accord a/c compressor and altenator (so you don't have to get your a/c lines rebent)

4 wires for vtec.

If the car is an 'ex' you can use DC headers and they'll bolt up to the stock accord cat. Otherwise you'll have to get the h22's downpipe flange modified to fit. (Or get a new exhaust setup +cat)

For the 5-speed conversion you have to get a rear tranny mount for a manual accord. You'll need to get a new driver's side axle for a 5-spd.

That's about it.

honestly man....90-93 accords are so cheap now that it would be so much more cost effective and less stressful for you to just get one already manual. i mean unless you've got a reason for keeping this car.... the hastle, the headaches and even the finding the parts to make it happen arent really worth it. you've already got the motor and.... now a days you can pretty much get any 92-93 accord for less than 1500 easy and unless you plan on doing this conversion yourself, shops will charge you an arm and a leg to do something like this and best beleive...its not easy.


also....from what you described that you were getting from hmotors online...sounds like a front clip. cause thats the only way you get all that shit cause most places dont take the time to take out all the shift cables, half shaft and all that shit and if you do decide togo through with this 5 speed conversion, i dont think that front clip will be any help to you becuase h22's only came in preludes therefore your going to get a prelude front clip which i dont think you will be able to use the 5 speed stuff from that into your accord, so you might be better off just getting a complete engine not a clip....but then i could be wrong...they might have taken everyhing out?? dont know

How did you come to the conclusion that it was a clip he was talking about?? He never said anything about shift cables or pedals and the half-shafts are often a necessary swap item, regardless of any auto-to-manual conversion being done. As far as I know, hmotorsonline doesn't sell Prelude clips, so what he's talking about is a motor/tranny package. Also, it is possible to find an accord clip with an H22, as some JDM and EDM models came with H22s, although it probably wouldn't matter for him because the pedal assembly would be reversed on a JDM car...

But yes, I would agree with your statement that it might be easier to just find an Accord with a manual transmission already in it...

its not a front clip unless you call them and request one ypu just get the full swap and those are the things that a full swap comes with

I've emailed hmotorsonline twice. One said they don't sell a certain part I wanted (head) the other said they were sure if they sold complete "swap" engines or not. Price sounds steep too when I've been looking at a reputable place that will sell an h22/auto/lsd shipped for ~1800.

Call and talk to steve. I can tell you right now that they will NOT sell you just an H22 head though.

And you can get auto trans h22 swaps cheaper than manual. thats a given.
