Im thinking of building my b16a2. I was thinking of doing CTR stock bore pistons, and doing a more powerful cam like the ctr. how much whp can i extract from my b16? i dont wanna do ls/vtec due to the rod stroke. i wanna be able to spin the motor high without breaking. any ideas on other ppls setups?
 
stock bore all motor b16...id say youd be topping out around 170-180 to the wheels.

if you try to go further on stock bore stock stroke...you will need magic to go any higher.

Some good cams (like skunk2 stage 3, pro 2, jun stage 3) PCT pistons, and a killer tune will probably get you close to that 160-170whp mark.
 
ctr pistons, ctr cams tuned makes 200whp in b16a2. my friend made 180whp with itr cams and a pnp stock bottom end stock ecu w/vafc.

stock bore
ls crank
cp 12.5:1 pistons
stock port job
skunk 2 springs and retainers
skunk 2 stage 2 cams
Blox Intake
66mm TB, port matched
tuned on neptune

I seriously dont think your gonna come anywhere close to that on a stock bore and stroke.

My question is are you trying to make 220whp on 93oct. all motor and daily driver the car?
 
Cams, pistons, gobs of head work (including performance valvetrain to match the cam), and awsome tuning will get you close to 200whp.

I have b-16 a2 and its about 30 whp and i thing it the biggest peaice of sh#$ thats on the road today

Umm an LS crank wont fit into a b16
 
why won't the crank work ... are you thinking deck height? Other than crank, the b16 & the b18 are the same.

If your running on the street, the best way to achieve your hp...
use a longer crank b18. You could use a shorter rod & move the oil ring up on the piston, to get a better r/s ratio. Regardless, a better-than-stock b18 bottom end rebuild can handle your revving.

omniman pulled 200whp out of his b16. I don't recall what he was running, although I do know he was running Rocket Motorsports cams and valvetrain, along with some good port work. If you can rev the b16 high enough and have a high enough volumetric efficiency at those high revs, you can make power. The major bottleneck that needs to be tackled in just about every honda motor is the head.

Port work, port work, port work. That's where the power will be made. Of course, you need the cams that will allow the engine to breathe, and the valvetrain that will keep up. The b16 is a good, easily revvable bottom end to work with. You can do it with lots of tuning on the dyno.
 
the ls has a deck height of 212mm while the b16 has a deck height of 203mm, so unless the pistons are considerably shortened, the piston will physically stick out 9mm. Thats why it wont work.

are you fucking stupid the cranks have diffrent strokes and you use a shorter rod. it works just like in chevy land when you take a 350 and turn it into a 383 stroker longer crank shorter rods.
 
so that would mean that the rods would have to be ATLEAST 9mm shorter than the ls rods which are 137 mm. Unless he had custom rods made, there are no honda rods that short.

just get cutom pistons with raised wrist pins. ive seen LS crank in a b16a with LS rods. how? custom pistons with raised wrist pins...
