I was just wondering if it would be better to turbo an LS or to turbo an LS vtec with a turbo, do consider that i have the parts for both builds and am just wondering which would produce more power/ thanks

it depends on how much you boost. i have talked to people with hugely built ls/vtecs and they say they should have just gone ls turbo. if you are leaving the block stock with mild boost, i would put the vtec head on there.

you will get better top end and head flow with a b16 or gsr head.

I'm not a huge fan of VTEC. Sure, a B16 head will flow better stock for stock against the LS head. However, that's what porting, cams and valvetrain are for. I'm doing straight turbo LS (nonvtec) with my build.

VTEC motors will always make more power. if you want torque and nice power in the low/mid range go with a straight LS. if you want a topend car go with the VTEC setup.

It depends how much boost you are running and when it hits full boost. If your turbo spools up really fast, then when you hit vtec, it can cause wheel spin since you are getting a sudden increase of power. If you are launching while in vtec then it really won't matter.

this is bullshit. you wont get any wheelspin just by hitting vtec. and if you launch in vtec or whatever he's trying to say, you will get extreme wheel spin and will run a horrible time. you would never want to launch at that high of an rpm.

VTEC heads should be used when going for more power and more RPMs. Their function is superior to non-VTEC heads, period. Turbocharged VTEC engines require different fuel and ignition setups as well as more extensive tuning than NA builds.

From the factory, VTEC won't engage without a load on the engine, so I imagine it's going to have to finish synchronizing before it drops below the changeover when you launch the car. This is not a condition that needs any attention, launching that high is impractical.

you know, i thought the same thing about the vtec until i actually saw it. I forgot the vid i saw and what not, but i'll ask my friend if he remembers. And it all depends on the turbo you have. Also, I know a couple people who launch at ~8k and shift at 11500, but they are running a full race setup and have either drag radials or slicks. Call it bullshit if you want, but its truth. I'm sure there's a vid out there that has someone doing the same thing.

Unless you reprogram your ECU to allow the engage to engage VTEC withOUT a load on it, you would not be able to launch the car in VTEC. If you did, it would feasibly provide a better ET for you, provided you had an adequate setup for handling it.

NOTHING is the same as VTEC, not VVTi, Li, or anything else. It's an amazing innovation and one of the simplest routes for power with Honda engines. It's ri-friggin-diculous mang
