Call them back and have them lower it back.

Why? I have around 40K worth of open credit, I owe whatever it is I charged this month on them.

Some people can handle money others can't
I sooo want to sell my 350Z and pull my IRA money out and buy a 911TT
but.... I know better =)

Why? because temptation is a bitch. Why bother, and who the hell needs 22k in insanely high interest credit?

You think 22k is high? Are you serious?

That is nothing in the world of credit card limits. Try small business or anything along the lines. I have 10k on both of mine. Doesn't mean I use more than 10%. ever.

Business and personal cards are different...

Not really, both spend just as easy. That is if you own the business, if not then your boss might not be too happy.

Bottom line, just because I have $500.00 cash in my wallet doesn't mean I have to spend it if I see something I like.

Same goes for a 10K or 20K limit on a credit card.

Business cards, well at least having to do with the statements I sometimes see at work, have a lower interest rates and give more benefits to the end user. IMO having a personal card with anything more than a couple grand is just not worth it. Especially for a car nut like Brian, or half this board.

Hell just look at Airjockie's personal debt in his signature. If any of that is credit card debt, it's not worth it.

I'm guessing 99% of that is his house loan.

I guess what it comes down to is some people can handle money. while it seems most other people can't.

Ok. I'm done. My point was there is no need for it, but I guess that much credit is necessary for non business owners to have.

i'm in debt over 200k if you count my house and car...

its just a number...

It's very nice to have handy, how do you think I paid for my CBR? I paid for that with my credit card, I've also bought some pretty big price tag items on the CC.
It makes life easier so you don't have to get certified bank checks.
Come to think of it I bought my old DX Civic using a credit card =) I believe it was around 7K back then.

Checks are accepted at fewer places everyday, checking cards are a great idea but most checking cards have a very low limits, something like $500 per day. unless you call your bank ahead of time they'll decline any charges you place over X many dollars.

If shit hits the fan and I need money fast, it's nice knowing I have it at my finger tips, i hate going to the bank. + I get cash back on everything woot =)

I'm talking credit cards, not lines of credit and mortgages which aren't pieces of plastic you can swipe just cause you can anywhere.

So you'd rather draw 10-30% interest on your charges over driving to the bank to withdraw money? That makes sense.

more like 6-7% and it does make sense if you have the money in the bank in the first place.

lets say you have 20K sitting in the bank. you see something that cost 8K that you want, too bad it's 3PM on Saturday and you know all the banks are closed.
wait... thats right your credit card has a 10K limit and you could easily charge the item and earn 1% cash back (in my case) at the end of the month you move the funds from your bank to your credit card and avoid any APR charges

In the end I saved myself time, got the money I needed and made $80.00 off my cash back.

Make sense?

Think of a credit card not as a credit card but a buying tool.

Make sense now?

Also if you're a really good customer you'll start getting free offers not for new cards but for your current cards that come to you for being a good customer.

Right now I earn 5% cash back from around 10 different stores, one of them being Amazon.com and I believe another major one was Target or some store like target. few months back they gave me 3 months of 5% cash back on gas bought from anywhere. Not to shabby if you ask me =)
I don't even have to ask for them anymore they just send me random offers stating they're already applied all you have to do is use your card.
