k20 worth the price in 96 civic

i was wondering if hp and performance wise is a k20 worth the price over a b18 if im going to turbo it and swap it into a 96 civic.
 
I have a k24 I'm putting in my integra and I have a gsr in my hatch. I also have my boys hatch that has a k20 that I drive all the time it is worth the money for the swap but I will say if you have money to boost a b18 the right way i.e. sleeves, pistons, and rods with great fuel management do that. But far as just throw a turbo kit on a stock b18 vs. a stock k swap I would go k for reliablity issues.
 
well ask yourself this, is it really worth a minimum of 8 grand for a stock motor?? Granted you get the stock reliability, but dude... 8g's for just a motor? I dunno about that. The price is the only thing that gets me about the swap.

On the other hand, a turbo b18 will probably cost you around the same ifyou do it all out right like ^^^ said. You also will NOT get the reliability of a stock K (or even a reflahsed, i/h/e, cammed K).

All n all, if you got the money to spend get the K. with a reflash and bolt ons you can take pretty much anything on the road... that is... if you have a hatch. on k20a.org they have numbers up of full interior civics/integras with k20a's and only get you a low 14/high 13. Where with a hatch you can easily get into the low 13/high 12's. then you have to consider suspension and tires..
 
8 grand for a k20?!?! I dont know where you get your information. Maybe $5 k tops. I friend of mine bought a a whole RSX Type-S, he got it off auction because it was totaled. He only paid a little over $3000. His car is a CRX by the way, doesn't have much to do with anything, but him and his dad put it in. He said all he pretty much needed was a Harness adapter.

mounts, about 400 bucks
fuel rail, ep3 pulley, ac stuff, 2-300
reflash, 5-600
shifter stuff, 200-300

obviously he doesnt own a k20.....i have probly done every swap there can be done into an eg.....and by far the k20 is hell of alot worth it...........i gota a euro r k20 in my 95 eg......with clutch intake exhaust and simple tuning with k pro .....im hitting hi 12's on street tires.........what b series engine u know can do dat???.....

like i said its hell alot worth it and its the future its make b series obsolete as we speak:cool: :cool: :cool:
 
if you plan on keeping the car forever, do the k-series up.

if you plan to part out/sell, do a b-series.

there's no return on either, but at least you won't loose out on too much with a b-series.

basically, don't do it if you don't plan to keep the car for 10 years.
you'll see about 2grand back on your 10 grand investment.
 
Or you could swap a k in there, drive it for a few months and try and sell your 200k chassis civic with a 50k k20 for something stupid like 13 grand... k20a.org is full of those kinds of idiots..

He could still get 7 grand for his 10 grand investment, people are that dumb. And i have no clue why people think k cars are worth that much...
 
Definatley get the K. I used to have a fully built GSR in my EG. Now I have a K and it's totally worth it. Fast and reliable. I/H/E/ KPRO and you will be around around 230whp and thats with stock internals. K is the way.
 
I'd get the B18. Simply because its far less expensive and an all motor build is fairly typical with the B's. K seems to be just too much hassle for the final product. Cost is as much, if not more as buying a B, building and then boosting it. Difference is, a K20 will not run 11's with just the swap.
