New to these forums like so many others.

A friend of mine is getting rid of his C5 engine so he can swap in a k20 in his 99 Si as we speak. Said he would sell it to me cheap, really cheap. The motor works fine, he says he wants more power.

Anyway, I have a d16z6 motor and I am unaware of what is needed from his car. He said he will give me all the necessary parts: tranny, ecu, wiring harness, shift linkage, etc.

I have searched though the forums and found the most people say get the the brackets and motors. Is there any thing else that I need to make this swap like another radiatior or something.

Any help is much appreciated.

If he gives you "tranny, ecu, wiring harness, shift linkage, etc. " and the axles, you're almost set. You'll need All the mount brackets that he took off from his car.

Ok, thanks. I appreciate the information. And to answer to question about how much, $900 because he is going to a K20A2 motor, that and he rich, so he doesn't care to much.

wow  that is a good ass deal

I know. That is why I am so happy he is letting me get it. I am going be calling him after today and see if I can get it before the new year and already have it swapped in. The thing I am wondering is whether I should swap in it myself and get some experience at it or let a shop do it.

I'm jealous! You're a lucky mo'fo.Did my swap for just under 5k, (b18c5 96 ek). Motor was $3600 and that was a deal just to give you an idea of how lucky you are.Keep in mind you'll have to get your exhaust reworked.I'd set aside about $500 for additional parts hoses ,fluids all that shit.Look at the swap articles they'll give you a lot of info. Also buy this book "Honda Engine Swaps" by Arron Bonk its consider the bible of engine swappers. It helped me soooo much. Also allow yourself 2 weeks of down time, ( time without your ride) shit always goes wrong so just be prepared.Good luck

Get your hands dirty, and get some experince. Dam you're lucky and I thought I got my B18C-R for cheap. But how many miles does he hav on it though

If I remember correctly, I think about 45000 on the bottom and about 6000 on the head after he had is port and polished.

Got a guide for that anywhere. I realized that I had that book that someone recommended about honda engine swaps. Now I just have to find the darn thing.

The B-Series swaps really arent that hard to do. Its the K and F and H series that are difficult to swap into Civics. A C5 swap shouldnt be too hard.

That is what I figured. My uncle is pretty good with motor swaps, don't think he has done a import swap though. The biggest factor is that is will be cheaper than having someone do it for me. The downside is that there is more of a risk that I can screw something up.I have got time though. Probably won't get the engine till next year and do some research and see about it.

Well, I went to check out the motor and find out some interesting things about the motor. The block is trashed bcuz it was put together wrong. The guys who put is together for him didn't use a torque wrench when they put the head on. The studs/bolts are bent up and now the head won't seat properly and will lift. As a result, it will blow head gaskets. The head was warped, so it had to machined flat. It is good.

The good thing about the block is that the internals are still in good shape. The pistons are 84mm JE pistons 8.5.1 compression, Manley rods, Type R crank, and Darton sleeves. All I have to do now is get another block, probably a LS block and put those internals in there. The guys are Darton told me the sleeves can be pushed out put in another block.

Well, after all that, I decided to get the motor from him still, just at a very reduced price. Since the head and block internals are the only good parts, how much do you guys think the head (B16 head with 3 angle valve job) is worth ?

I'd try to salvage the block. take it to a well known race shop and have block resurfaced ( if its not too out of whack) put some ARP studs in and call it good. As for that book I recomended I found it at Autozone today 24.95 and well worth the coin.Dunno about the b16 valve job.

Ok, that sounds possibly. Do anyone know of any good shops in Georgia, Atlanta area, that could do this ?
