Hello Everyone.
I'm New here(maybe not this is my 2nd post really)and I just wanted to tlak about my future plans with my car....if anyone is interested.
I drive a 96 Accord Ex that I bought about 2 years ago. I've always liked this body style(along with the 98-2000 version).
Well needless to say I was bitten by the tuner bug. I knew that I had my work cut out for me but I figured it will be a good 1st project.
As far as mods goes I haven't really done anything to the engine or the trans.
I started with the suspension 1st and have put on a Neuspeed front upper strut bar and a Progress rear anti-sway bar w/polyurethane bushings. I'm going to finish the bushings in the spring and hopefully by then I'll have a full coil-over kit.
NOW the delimma.
I'm at a part where I want to start on the engine but I'm not sure what I want to do.
O.k I'm either looking at doing the H22a swap...or a F22a(dohc) engines.
I'm going to boost the engine so I' going to build the top and bottom end of the engine to handle high boost levels.
I've heard that the H22a walls are weak and the pistons aren't good....the pistons dosen't bohter me because I'm going to get forged heads.
I want to have the paower available and not need it, than to need it and not have it if you catch my drift..and "YES" this will be a daily driver.
Anyways sorry I have written so much but I just wanted to kinda introduce myself and talk about some goals that I want to accomplish. I'm not looking for something to do quick cuz if that was the case I would have done that 2 years ago. I've been doing research for the past 2 years because I want to do it right the 1st time cuz I don't have the time or money to waste!!!!!

Any suggestions are very much appreciated!!!

well if your gona boost it put the f20 in there it will drop right in and bolt right up to your tranny

well it almost the same as a h22a but they like boost a little more than the h but both would have to be built to handle more than 7psi safely

Oh..O.K. I'm going to have to re-build the engine anyways.
I don't want to be driving and then decide to turn up the boost and then  *klank, klandk, klank,*&%^*, KA-BOOOM :puke: You et my point though. I will do some more research on this engine. No one has ever mentioned this engine to me. I've only heard about the H22a seeing that it's the most popular swap.

but now thinking about it it has more compression than the normal h22a so i dont know why it wouldbe better

I just did a quick reference look at the F20c and see that it comes out of the S2000. This isn't a direct swap is it???
What type of modification needs to be done for the Accord to accomadate this engine????

lol the f20c is a s2000 motor the f20b is a accord motor, to put the f20c in there it will take a shit load and you would also have to make it rear wheel drive, you probly could do it for about 13 grand lol

So not worth it. I might as well buy another car for that price like an Rsx or something.
O.K. I'm going to do a quick look at the f20b now.

The f20b isn't vtec so that means that I'm going to have to wire vtec in(and everthing that goes with it)???
Or is it a choice if I want to or not???

huh? the f20b is vtec all you have to do is drop it in

My bad...I read the wrong one.
Impressive...200hp just stock alone huh?
I thought the h22a was the engine that was expensive but this cost more than that(although I would shop around).
Why dosen't anyone go for this engine as opposed to the H22a???

well the h22a a has more tork, you can get the h22a with 220hp and 163 tork bone stock,

Thanks for adding to my delimma....j/k  .
Seriously though, I'm going to have to do some serious research on these engines.
Thanks for giving me more options to go with and I'm not kidding about that.
I think the more options I have to choose from, the better off I'll be in my quest into building my Accord into a performance machine w/great speed and handling.

if you are going to boost the motor stock then the f series would be the way to go however if you are going to build the shit out of it anyway buy the h22 with out the tranny ( the f22 tranny or f23 tranny's are great for boost because of their longer gearing). the walls in the h22 are not weak. show me some pics of broken sleeves in these motors. not may if any out there. the ring lands on the pistons that are the weak part of the h22. but like i said if you are going to build the motor anyway then compression, weak pistons, etc shouldnt even be in the picture. you should be looking for for an engine with some displacement and has available parts. your f22 with the h22 head is a great way also to make a dohc beast.

O.K. This just saved me some money as far as the tranny goes. Thanks

I don't have any proof of this...it was just somehing that I heard sooo I should've specified this....MY BAD.

Now I have heard this alot.

HHHMMMM.....

................

the f22 bottom end plus the h22 head has been done several times. they call it the g22 or g23 if you use the f23. just a money saver. but the h22 would be the easiest.

What are the gains in doing this....as far as strengths/weakness goes between this and the H22a???
