like the title says which rods and pistons in a turbo ls/vtec, want to try to stay around 600-700 for both
Thanks

I would keep the stock ls rods and pistons, but have the rod bolts replaced with ones from ARP. That should keep you well under your budget, and be good for more than 300whp, which is probably more than 99% of people could handle on the street, and more than 100% of people should use on the street. If this is a mostly track car, I'd recommend forged rods and pistons, but that will put you over your budget for most brand rods and pistons, with maybe the exception of probe rods and wiseco shelf pistons. The stock rods/pistons will/should more than suit your needs, and leave the extra cash available for tuning, which is ultimately what will keep your engine good and reliable.

should i get new stock rods? or new pistons atleast? i would be happy with 275 whp i just want it to be reliable and boosted

If your piston ring lands (the grooves that the piston rings sit between) don't have any cracks or signs of damage, I'd just reuse them, get your block honed, and get a new ring set, along with the arp rod bolts. You should be fine with the goal you have. 275whp is a good goal to have for a fun street car. Get a fast spooling turbo (gt25/gt28rs), a close geared transmission, and you will have a very responsive car.

i think im going to buy one of those ebay kits with the pipes already made, since the car will not be my daily drive(ill use my 02 si for that). the blocks already been cleaned and decked, im waiting on the head work now, also ill be running a gsr trans with lsd, also what do you guys recomend for rings and bearings?

Hey, I resent that. :p

OEM rings and bearings work fine, especially with the OEM pistons. If you get forged pistons, use the rings that came with them, but keep the OEM bearings. Just put in new ones.

one more ???? what about fuel mangment should i just get crome or uberdata, or spring for something nice

I went with Probe pistons and rods for my Turbo LS/Vtec. I havent had a problem at all.

i would build it if you have it apart..
i used wiseco pistons/eagle H beam rods and i think they are arc bearings. if you are going to build it do it rite.

i think im just going to use the stock stuff since it will be good for the power i want to make with it, of course thats aslong as they check out allright ill be sending them to have checked and balanced along with the crank, i want to build it as cheaply as posiablr but i dont want it to blow after 3 months eather

do what you want, but if you do it now you want have a problem later. and you want have to spend extra money fixing what broke or got scared up.

This sounds a lot like when I first built my setup. I wanted something strong, but yet cheap in price not quaility. In the end, I ended up changing my mind and going fully built. Like someone else just said....basically do it right the first time and save time and money later down the road. Turning up the boost is soooo easy to do and you'll always want more power, trust me.;)

Just because you use OEM parts does not mean you are not doing it right. He has a goal, and the things you guys are suggesting is way beyond the goal he has set for himself. It's a proven thing that stock b-series components can handle 300+whp reliably with a halfway decent tune and a competent rebuild. Why spend an extra 700 on forged internals when his stock stuff will be just fine for what he want to do with the car? If he wants to rebuild it later for more power, it's not like he has spent much to get to the point he is at with stock internals. Gaskets, oem rings and bearings, and get the block honed and cleaned won't even cost him near what he'd pay for forged internals alone. Honda OEM is in no way cheap in quality, and it will hold more than his goal. There's no reason to pay more. 300whp is not weak on the street. It's all in your component selection. If he wants more, then he can just build for more.

The ebay pipes will work fine, just get some good couplers, or have them fit and welded by a good shop. Use Crome, it's a great program. Neptune is good also, but more than you'll probably need. Just remember that TUNING IS EVERYTHING. Mike (Calesta, posted above) can tell you firsthand what happens when somebody doesn't tune your engine well, even when you are running a forged bottom end. Things get ugly.

i dont want to spend the moeny to build the rest of the car if i make over 300 hp then im going to have to run some big tires and build the sup, and every thing else i want the car to do between 250-300 hp. also what about fuel? what do i need to run for injectors can i get away with running some 440s out of my turbo supra?i think i heard that they work on are cars and thans guys again for all the input.

I'd go buy some DSM blue top 450cc injectors, best bang for the buck. Your supra injectors probably will work, but I'm not sure. The DSM injectors fit almost perfectly with the stock seals and fuel rail. You might need to upgrade and run an inline fuel pump, but you might not, Maybe start a thread in the Forced Induction forum with more specific questions regarding your turbo setup.

Yup. Get someone you absolutely trust with your money and engine. A bad tune can ruin your entire investment.

ya tuning is key not only douse it make HP diffrents it means everything to the motor, also can i chip a p75 ecu and have it run the vtec or do i need to order another ecu?
