I was just wondering what the best head swap is for a d15b8 motor? As most of you know its only got 70 horsepower to its name and is great on mpg but shitty on get up.I'm sick of being left on the line. I want something that at least gives some competition.I was thinking about swapping the head for a d16y6 or something of that sort. Moneys tight as always but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

how much

how much more power are we talking by doing a mini me swap using said d16 any way to find out. And is it worth it and what would be needed to perform this swap. Also is there an around about total cost?

if money is tight, leave it stock until you have more money. don't waste money on a car. if you can't do the swap yourself, you are going to spend $200-$800 on labor and $200-$600 on a motor. a d16 isn't a mini me swap either. you need to research it some more. there are a lot of articles and how-tos on here.

indeed

I realize that the d16 isn't a mini-me swap. I believe he was stating using the head of a d16 to mount onto my d15 block. I also can do the swap myself. I'm just wondering the best route to go for not that much buck.

well, you might get about 20 more hp. but who knows. the d15 block sucks.

if you can do the swap yourself, find a d16z6 w/tranny for about $400 or so. that's your best best. you would see a good power gain of about 30 to the wheels, maybe more and the gearing will help a lot to. the cx tranny sucks almost as bad as the engine. but if you are low on funds don't mess with it. and don't waste your time trying to turbo it either. waste of money.

i dont wanna

I don't wanna turbo the car in the slightest. I just need to do something that will give it some more pep and get that oil burning d15 the hell outta there. So far in my attempts i can't find an engine for anything less that 750 not including shipping.

also

I would however would like to make it a V-Tech if i could in anyway

Putting a Z6 head on a B7 block will give you a little better performance than a stock Z6, rev a little quicker, but it'll have less displacement.

The cheapest route is to find someone selling their Z6 after a B-Series swap. You can generally find engines in good condition in the $200-300 range but you'll usually get everything that's bolted to the engine for the price...possibly even the transmission, which will also help out considerably. And hey, at that point you might as well just swap the whole damn thing in right? Right.
you are right, but he doesn't have a d15b7, he has the d15b8. if he had the b8 it would be better to do the mini me. but our best advice for ease of swap is still doing a stock z6 with the ex/si tranny.

you have a lot to learn young one. its "V.T.E.C" vtech with an "h" is phones.

search hondaswap/hondatech/craigslist.com/there are a lot of places to find used engines.

sorry about that

i know how to spell v-tec just typing fast and when tec came to mind came to mind as tech my apology

d16z6 head for sale comes complete including the intake manifold stock si header injectors and distributer. Perfect for a mini-me swap or a bad head. looking for 170.00 obo

what do you think about that nick ????

if you are burning oil you might have bad piston rings. if you replace the head, you are still going to burn oil.

you need to find a local forum like NWStreetRacing.com :: Index - NWStreetRacing.com only for your area. a lot of people post parts and stuff on there. not all of it is legit, but if you get a bill of sale you are ok.

if you ask me personally, which you arent but i'm going to tell you anyways, if you dont' have the money, don't even bother racing. suck it up and just get to work/school/whatever. then when you have the money, buy whatever the hell you want. i know it sucks sitting at a light and some tool with a brand new srt-4 his parents bought him rev on your little d15, but it's part of life. get over it. then when you are a baller like me, get a turbo b-series or k-series and go back and race all the little tools that made fun of you when you were broke.

nick am i going to need the vtec solenoid and the ecu to make it work?

the head should come with the solenoid. you will need the ecu and you will need to wire the harness up for vtec. but if you don't fix the block, you will blow your newly built mini me, plus like i said before the b7 block sucks. don't waste your time with a mini-me

why are you racing with a d15b8? and who would you race and think you have a shot with a solid 18 second car?

the Z6 would be the best choice, just find something local to you. ask around, but don't ask retarded questions. you usually end up paying way more if they think you are a dumbass.

i got a complete Z6 swap last week for free because it had a bent valve.

why woudl you guys recomend not to turbo it?

why woudl you guys recomend not to turbo it?
because it's burning oil for 1. 2, it's a shitty ass motor and wont' be able to handle the boost. it's more economical to get a better running engine and use it for a daily driver than worry about turbo'ing it right now.
