Ok thought about doing a ton of stuff in the last week but looks like i am getting a great deal on a lude.

Few questions for you lude owners and knower out there.

1 i saw that some gauge clusters are digtal on the miles the car has gone and also the cluster glows very nicly and looks sharp and really nice and some are not which years and models came with what and how would it be to switch out the non digtal one with the digtal.

2 gonna do a h22a swap in future possibly but want to know which is the best h motor OR IF APLLIES F motor to boost.

3 depending on motor whats a safe boost level to run motor at without hurting the motor itself.

4 whats best tranny for a boost setup.

thanks for replys.

Well I will start. 4th gen preludes kinda had 2 subgenerations. In 92-93, they had a pretty much normal gauge cluster with weird digital gauges for the gas and temp gauge. In 94 they had a minor interior change one being they switch to illuminest (Sp) gauges that better matched the weird gauges gas and temp gagues. In addition, these had digital odometers. These can be put into the 92-93 preludes however wireing is needed.

This is really the best write up I have found for doing it

As for the other questions it depends on how much your willing to spend. The h22 is a great engine and has a decent amount of technology in it, however, compression is a wee bit high for any large amount of boost, and if you want to drop it with pistons, you will need to sleeve the block, costing more money. However, big numbers are possible.

thnaks

yeah was gonna do a jdm h22a but 10:6 is high i thought as well so maybe i will drop the pistons down a bit whats a good set of pistons and comp ration that i would want for boost. I am looking in the future to make somwhere around 300 whp in my lude maybe less.

anyways any ideas on a good turbo setup would be nice i am currently researching around but theres just alot of info, and alot of my knowledge is about NA and not boosted apps.

thanks again for any replys and thanks for cluster write up.:D

false false false false false. the only problems with compression and boost is heat and that heat can cause detonation. the h22 has an adequate cooling system (oil squirters etc) so that is out. you also do not have to resleeve the h22 to put pistons in. mahle makes a set (h22 gold series) that does not require you to resleeve the block. these are still a cast piston however the ringlands are much stronger. there is nothing wrong with making 300-350hp on a stock bottom end. there are more h22's out there than i can count with that much hp on the stock bottom end.

as far as boost. its not the amount of boost that breaks motors its hp. take this for example.

t25 on 12 lbs may only make 270hp.
sc60-1 on 12 lbs may make 350hp.

the t25 doesnt flow as well as the sc60-1 so on the same boost level it will not make as much power. see now how boost doesnt effect things breaking it is hp

anything with longer gears than the h22 tranny. f22 or h23 tranny's are good. f22 would be the best bet. they are cheap and have better gearing for boost than the h22.

however there is nothing wrong with the h22 tranny. the struggle is 1st and 2nd but the rest is pretty dang good.
