Putting new timinig & balancer belt, and water pump before it goes back into CRX. Iam looking to hit 250 hp tops, so should I do the manuel tesioner or just stick a new auto back in? I found people on forums that have gone thru three? Also, is there any other H22a quarks I should be aware of while the motor is out? Thanks for the input.

well h series trannies suck from what i've heard... just passing off some info.

do the manuel tensioner also you can if wanted eliminate the balance belt.

to turbo sol you should not run your mouth unless you have personal experance

h22 trannys are not bad they work great

This is true, however the conversion to put an h-series tranny is pretty expensive.

One thing that sucks about the h22 is there are SO many vacuum lines compared to a GSR or something like that. Make sure you 5x check them before you start it up.

it's like 1300 bucks to do a conversion for the b series to fit h series block. yeah that is a little spendy but will be better in the long run...b series trannies are strong as shit...i just read an article about some dude that was pushing 790 hp and like 520 ft/lb tq...with a different clutch, drive axle, and limited slip diff. that was all it took and that car is a daily driver!

Do the manual tensioner. There is a good writeup on it here or on H-T somewhere, complete with pics. Guy's stop trashing his thread, if he wants to know what tranny to use, he'll ask.

what are the benefits of a manual tensioner

Pretty much a reliability issue. A lot of prelude owners have had difficulty with the auto tensioners getting screwed up somehow. They just aren't as reliable, especially when you start modifying the engine to make more power.
