alright my d16 started to make a knockin noise on the way home the other day. i brought it home and checked the oil. it looked really thin and watery so i changed it. once i did this i took it for a drive and it quit for a little bit. well my step dad said it sounded like it was the timing but i told him it sounded like a rod knock. well my brother in law listened to it and said he thought it sounded like a rod knockin to. i showed him the oil and it looked like water. so we opened the radiater and i stuck my finger in it and it had a little bit of oil floatin in it. so we opened the overflow and he stuck his finger in it and pulled out a big gob of oil. he said head gasket, cracked head, or cracked block. does any body have any ideas if that is what it could be. and also i had just put an aem cold air intake on it could that have anything to do with it. any info is more than welcome thanks.

alright i think the watery oil has caused a rod beo start knocking does anybody know if there is a way to take the oil pan off without seperating the tranny from the block. i can see if its the rod and which one and also possibly fix it without takin the motor out. if i have to though i will take the motor out and put new bearings pistons and rings in it. any help would be nice.

My man, I think that the best advice anyone here can give you is to take the whole thing apart, and put it the new rods and rings. You will be better off.

Something is blown, I just finished replacing the Headgasket on my CX and its not as hard as you'd think... but the Ticking is another story... you'd almost be better off hunting for a new motor than messing with 'guess and check whats broken' I know this from experiance... :(

How many miles on it?I blew mine up too, D16y8.Same symtoms.Had the head resurfaced /valve job/ magnafluxed /new head gasket.Ran fine for another 1000 miles until I blew a piston ring.I was told the stronger compression from the reworked head blew out the bottom end because it had too many miles on it, 180,000.
