My advice: Don't. Ever. Do. That.

I hate WIN phone systems, especially the 36D model. You have to take the protective cover OFF of the damn thing to pull it off the wall. How retarded is that shit?

In doing so, with it still running, you run the risk of becoming the shortest path to ground.

Well guess what I did today? That's right, I became the shortest path to ground.

I remember moving it off the drywall screw, blacking out ever so slightly, and the next thing I knew I had almost dropped the damn thing but couldn't because of the charge going through me.

I mean, I felt like I'd JUST woken up after that experience. I felt like my life just flashed... I've been hit by ringing voltage before, but this was like... 10 times worse.

Fucking Damn that hurt like a sonofa...

Note to self: NEVER remove a 36D from the wall (when still plugged in and on) by handling the metal frame. If you slip and hit something with a charge. It hurts like a fucker.

After I regained my senses and what just happened, I had to put the system back on the screws so I could let go of it. I was standing there to catch my breath, and I could feel my heart beating insanely fast.

I know you're going to ask, why didn't you just turn it off?

I couldn't. The customer is still using the system, but I had to pull it off the wall so I could install their new system; The ever so awesome, and completely encased IVX 128x E class system.

I Heart the ESI. :)

From what I remember from the story, E didn't do it on purpose. But I have been tazed and his story makes my balls want to retract back into my body.

i thought you acted as a parent and said you have to go to your room for the weekend when i first read the title. heh

This phone runs voltage when it's sitting idle ?

More input

Phones are only 50ish volts, yes/no? (Unless Ringing)... Try grounding a wrench across a YellowTop Optima Battery's terminals... Or touching a 220v Hot Leg and trying not to cry like a little girl... lol. 220v SUCKS.

I've accidentially grounded myself after sandplasting a whole bunch of parts. I was dumb and didn't wear the ground strap.

OH this is a rack mount unit !

I got it now. You know, you can make mistakes. One time I was at work doing some commercial fire alarms, and I tested the power system with a co-worker. Well, I was kinda tired and having fun, so I went to grab the fuse. I thought better of it because of it's clearance to the contacts was pretty tight.

SO I quickly grabbed my screwdriver out of my pocket and wedged it into the fuse box.

Just then Jesus had a discussion with me. He mentioned, and I'll always remember this, that I may be intelligent, and I work with logic circuits, electronics and whatever I want in low voltage. But I should never touch commercial or house AC for the rest of my stupid ass life.

And I said "Thank you, Jesus" and my vision came back and I was crumpled up in the corner, sparks still falling to the ground.

EDIT: It was a 220 2 phase master line. My screwdriver literally exploded.

Best I did was unscrewing the rotor cap on my old civic. turns out the screw that holds the rotor in place came off and broke a hole thru the bottom of the cap. when I went to unscrew the cap the rotor came around and jumped a spark to the screw then directly to my screw driver. I was punched in the chest and knocked back a few feet. It hit hard enough to burn the metal on the screw driver.

I HATE Honda distributor, I had 3 fail in a row, if you loosened the rotor cap and wiggled it a bit...

Having a MSG 6A Ignition amplifier and MSD blaster SS coil didnt help any either.

Try grounding a wrench across a YellowTop Optima Battery's terminals...
My friend did that and he started crying like a son of a b. And then we kicked his ass for crying, and he was like you try it and see. I said were not that stupid who the f#%k's that stupid to intentionally do it.

Not sure what the voltage is while there is a conversation going on on one of the digital sets. Ringing voltage is 50 volts. I've been hit by ringing voltage more times than I can count, a mere 50 volts doesn't bother me. This actually hurt.

I've hit myself on an outlet as well, I'm not an electrician so I don't fuck with any of that. Ever.

It's not really a rack mounted unit.

It's a little bit smaller than this, and it's like a beige cover. The whole cover comes off, unlike the front part of this one.

eBay: WIN 440CT Phone System (item 320070464779 end time Jan-15-07 17:29:33 PST)

btw this is a 440CT... Programming = PITA You can do 90% of it from the phone, but you need a laptop and hyperterminal to do the last 10%, which of course is the most important programming.

PS if you want a phone system, that's really not a bad deal for what it has in it, and you can expand it quite a bit too.

it was a shocking experience wasnt it James? lol

i thought you acted as a parent and said you have to go to your room for the weekend when i first read the title. heh

So did I

Dam that's mean

ive grounded the terminal of a battery before. and i didnt feel anything, i mean it scared me and made some sparks, but i dindt feel anything. its only 12 volts... i dont think thats enough to go through you, being as you can grab both terminals and nothing happens.
