I need help!! I keep getting burned by a kid with a subaru in my school and im in need of help.. How do I make my 95 honda accord with vtec 2.2l car faster??
anything helps wat stuff do i need to buy and time stuff will take

If you dont want to make any major changes that cost a lot then jus get a proformance chip for it, or if you want more hp and wanna actually notice it, but dont wanna spend ton-o-money then get a cold air intake, headers, and a cat back exhaust system.....the chip will take all of probably 15 minutes and the other things wont take too long probably a week or two...if you have all the parts.

First off, don't bother with a "performance" chip. The majority of them are garbage and a waste of money, especially on a completely stock motor. You'd be better off to do some bolt-ons (header, exhaust, intake) and have a shop dyno and tune the car for you using some kind of tuning software then just hacking some wacky perfomance chip into your car.

Second, you need to tell us some more information before we can help you. Like what's your budget? And what kind of Subaru are you trying to beat here? A WRX? STI? Legacy?

If you think you're gonna beat a WRX or STI with just some bolt-ons like intake and exhaust, good luck with that. At the very least you're going to need some kind of turbo setup, if not a motor swap as well. Look to spend anywhere from $1500-$5000, depending on what all you decide to do.

If your motor is in decent condition then I'd say the best bang for your buck would be to assemble a turbo kit for it, and grab some nice sticky tires and maybe do some drivetrain and suspension upgrades. If you've got wads of money to blow, then I'd suggest swapping to a H23 or H22 first, and then going turbo.

Whatever you do, if you plan on turboing it, don't forget to get it tuned.

I agree with the last guy. First know what your up against. If it is an STI, your going to need more than an H22 swap. My friend bought an 05 STI. A day later, his obviously still stock, mine a 95 accord (H22 w/ headers, intake, exhaust, crank pulley, stage 3 clutch and lightened flywheel and other minor parts) still pulled away from me! The stock hp on an STI is 300. I am pushing maybe 230ish. To get that out of an accord you will have to spend some money. Here are your options:

-h22 swap, bolt ons, 50-75 shot N02
-F22b1, turbo, maybe sprayin'

note: the F22 will handle higher boost without rebuild than the H22

100% false. its not boost that the motors cant take. it is the hp and depending on the turbo hp can change dramaticaly.

who told you that the f22 can handle more boost? that is false. the f22 is a great motor and is much easier to upgrade internals because they do not have the frm sleeves like the h series motors. most f22's on 12lbs are only makeing 280-300 hp while h motors on 12lbs are making 350 with the same turbo configuration. 350 hp on the hseries is safe if tuned correctly. there have been several with 400-560 on the stock bottom end

So what is highest, safest boost for both motors. I have been told that without rebuild (changing the sleeves) in the H22, you don't want to go much higher than 9lbs. I've heard of f22's boosted at 15lbs. But you are right, there is a significant power difference in the 2 engines and if you installed the same setup on both engines, the H22 would by far have more HP. However, with that said, the F22 with the same lbs of boost putting out less horsepower is not as much stress on the engine than would be in the H22, putting out a lot more...right?

yes the higher the hp the more stress on the motor. but like i said there is no way to tell you an amount of boost that is safe. it is all in the sizing of the turbo. take this for example

turbo h22
t25 on 9lbs might make 250-260hp.
sc60-1 on 9lbs might make 300-320.

see with the same boost level (psi or lbs) the two turbos can make completly different amounts of power. this is why no one can tell you a boost level.

horsepower should be your goal not boost level.

most people will tell you that 280whp in a f22 is plenty but there are some that go 300. that will take quite a bit of boost to do but 300 is pushing the envelope on the f22. where as the h22 is about 300-325 to keep it safe and pushing the envelope would be more like 350-375.
