Why doesn't my VTEC work?

I don't understand why my VTEC isn't working. I'm using the B16 wiring harness, with a PW0 ECU, and I'm even using a Hasport VTEC wiring harness. This swap is in a '91 CRX Si . We couldn't use the Si wiring harness due to different distributor/ignition plugs. Could it be that I have a bum VTEC solenoid?

I'm getting codes 6 ( Engine Coolant Temperature) and 22 (VTEC Oil Pressure Switch).

yea it might not be the amount of oil but its a good start point to check

code 6 just means you plugged the wrong plug into that white plug on the head.

code 22 means it's not wired correctly. double check your wiring.

the plugs are right above each other. you problaby got them mixed. mkae sure the vtec wire is grounded properly.

Does anybody happen to know what the OEM part number for a Oil Pressure Switch (or the "VTEC Pressure Switch" as its commonly known as)?

Thanks, but I know about Majestic Honda, as should everybody on this forum, but that's not quite what I asked. I asked what the OEM part number was... not where to get it. The part number (which I stumbled across) is 37250-PR3-003. That's what I was looking for.

As far as the wiring harness is concerned, the stock Si harness didn't mate up to the swap (why should it?)... it was never meant to be there. It was missing plugs for the intake manifold, and distributor, so it didn't quite "plug right up." I'm utilizing a Hasport harness anyway.

And lastly, I know I'm running OBD0, and I wouldn't be quite dumb enough to swap out a perfectly running distributor, especially one from anything other than OBD0.

...but thanks anyway...

I didn't mean to insult your intelligence, but some people have done some retarded things...

The Si harness will (would have) work just fine on almost any swap, even B series, with the added plugs for vtec, 2nd o2, knock, iat, w/e you need. And I'm not just pulling this out of my butt. My friend here in town(Taco15) is running an LS/VTEC (b16 head) with an Si harness, that I helped wire up, and the car runs great.

woah woah woah... so you mean its not due to the oil level??? :p

man i just put in an extra 2qt so my vtec would kick harder... damn.

dude please tell me your kidding, any true honda tec knows if the oil level is to low it will not work...( grasshopper )

I had a similar problem with my car. Since you did a swap on the car, I would have the throttle position sensor checked or the vtec solenoid.

its not a myth yes it has to be a huge dent in just the right spot and yes it has to be very low on oil but it does happen

lol yea i guess your right about that, but it does happen, and hey he was a noob lol and might not check the oil much lol

well i understand but it realy will not work if you have a huge dent were the pick up is, and if its low on oil, rare but it does happen it can be proven but you will risk messing your motor up lol
