saw this in one of my MySpace.com bulletins. im not sure if its true or not, but dammit its funny as hell!!

Marine Corps General Reinwald was interviewed on the radio the other day and you'll love his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about gun laws you gotta love this!!!!

This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a portion of a National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL REINWALD: Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

The radio went silent and the interview ended. You gotta love the
Marines!

Haha that is great. And obviously she doesn't know much about the Boy Scouts either. At my summer camp you had to be 12 to take the rifle class and 14 to take the shotgun class. I got both badges, haha.

fuck that I learnd at 8 to shoot. My nephew is being taught right now and hes 9. Bottom line if a kid learns to respect firearms they don't play with them

Shit, on my 12th birthday, i got a Remmington .22 cal semi-auto composite stock rifle. The only way kids are going to know how to use guns safely, and to avoid danger - is to teach them at a young age. I remember cleaning my dads firearms when I was like 8, lol. Respect the weapon, and it respects you.

I was the same, bb gun at 9, .22 at 12, 20gauge shotgun at 14, .30-.06 at 16, .45 cal 1911 when I was 20. That is my feeling as well, teaching anyone at a young age how to handle firearms will instill a deeper respect for them there for less gun violence and miss use.

+1

I dont know the ages when i got my BB gun, .22 or .308, but i know for a fact that my dad made sure i knew about gun safety before i was ever allowed to touch any of them. While im not a fan of guns (meaning i cant talk shop with people), i can shoot quite well, and i know the proper way to handle a weapon. In the end, thats what all this comes down to. The anti-gun nuts out there think that everyone that owns a gun is going to go out on a rampage, but the truth is, the majority of people that carry weapons are out their protecting their ability to so dumb shit like that.

I'll actually be buying my first guns shortly. I think I want to start with a Walther P22 and a 12 Gauge. Then down the line I want a 357 Magnum revolver.

I completed hunters safety when I was 10 plus I had hunted with my dad before that as well. I was shown how guns worked, and what guns are capable of doing. I have never played with any fire arm like it was a toy.

I believe that is thanks to both of my parents explaining at a very young age that every thing on the TV and in the movies is all lies. Plus experiencing and seeing the fire arms in use had a very big impact.

Most people are afraid of fire arms and those who carry/use them because they have had little to no experience with them before. Just because some one carry's a handgun or owns one does not make them the root of all evil.
