I was just wonderin how can underdrive pulley really gain power comparing your stock?
Also i notice other racers that remove their A/C to gain more hp? Cant you just remove the belt to receive the same results?

yes you can just remove the belt for the same power..but pulleys will give you true whp not much but enough to notice because by making the pulleys smaller the motor dont have to work as hard

Ok now was the difference from the AEM pulley kit and unorthodox crankshaft pulley
is it better just get the crankshaft kit on ebay cuz cant find it nowhere else

what do you mean a crankshaft kit are they just pullys?, if they are then yea it will be fine to buy them from ebay just make sure the seller has a good rep

The Crank pulley will most likely give you the better power increase, but...comma...pause for effect...I wouldn't recommend the pulley set (alternator & AC) along with the Crank Pulley. I used the Unorthodox Crank pulley on mine and noticed a good increase in power.

Where did you get your unorthodox crank pulley from?
See i was thinkin of swapin an engine out, but then again i thought about gettin some mods that can give slight hp, that i can leave on when i turbo the car, ive seen this lx 97 he had the whole pulley sets, throttle body 68mm, spacer, intake manifold, then he turboed the car at 7psi and hes hittin around 230whp

My Mechanic was actually the one that got the part along with a few other things he did for me. He was the one that told me that it wouldn't be a good idea to do the rest of the pulleys (alternator, AC) because you don't want to lighten the load too much! Now is speaking on an H22. This 97' is only making 230 with all those mods...AND a turbo? I'm close, if not at that hp without turbo! Anyway, typically you will gain 2.7 HP for every pound lost off the crank (installing a lightened underdrive crank pulley).

Here are some sites to check out.

there is very little to be obtained from pully kits. yes they make things lighter, even decrease the load but do you really think a few hp at the crank is worth all the money. id rather save up for a good header or cams or something.

look at the dyno's from these pully kits. there isnt much there

I'm surprised to see no one mention how putting an aftermarket crank pulley on is a bad idea. The reason is because the stock pully is also a harmonic dampner, basically it removes vibrations out of the engine and keeping things from becoming damaged. Go ahead and put it on, sure you just gained 10hp or whatever but I'll take the small loss of running the stock one over rebuilding my engine every 10k miles or however long it takes. Just My Opinion.

The crankshaft is back weighted as well for that particular purpose. I don't think that replacing the stock crankshaft pulley will cause any significant increase in vibration. Even if there was any change, I don't think it would cause the engine to "shake apart" every 10,000 miles.

the crank shaft pully is a harmonic balancer. it will cause a vibration in the crank and cause excessive wear and tear on the engines internals. i think 10000 miles is a little soon but the hp gain is very minimal and not worth the damage that will follow

I think I am going to dig a little deeper into this. Not because I don't trust what most of you are saying, but because I am a little worried now about having one intalled about a year ago. I don't know why the mechanic that suggested and installed the part (being a personal friend and a trusted mechanic by others) wouldn't have mentioned something about it. I mean the guy was honest with me and would actually tell me not to buy certain parts that wouldn't make a big difference i.e. buying cam gears without first installing new cams, intake manifold etc. If it really is that big of a problem then maybe I need to have it taken off! I did notice a big power increase after installation, but it was done along with headers, custom exhasut, stage 3 clutch, and lightened flywheel. I guess its hard to know how much was actually gained by just the pulley, but he actually weighed both new and old. If the increase in power for weight loss is correct, it probably added at least 10 hp. I am going to do some more research on this, and I will publish my findings, positive or negative, when I'm done.

yes you def need to do some more research. there is dyno proof that those things dont make AT LEAST 10 hp. the most ever achieved was 4-5 with supporting mods. the parts on your car really havent made your car much faster just quicker throttle response. yes you have taken some weight off of the rotating assembly but only enough to net you about 10-15 hp all together. unless you have a good header thats about all you saw. a clutch and flywheel do not add any power just throttle response

YES, I know that a clutch and flywheel don't add power. I don't know everything about this stuff (that's why I'm on here and other forums), but I'm not an idiot. The lightened flywheel however allows more power to realized at the wheels, would it not? But back to the pulley. Yes there were supporting mods i.e. the headers, and custom 2 1/2 in. exhaust (stock is 1 3/4). I just have a hard time believing that Unorthodox would put a product out there that would screw up the engine. Yeah, there are probably parts out there that if not installed correctly and/or not tuned would hinder rather than help. Personally I am not too concerned with the HP gained from that. My car is quick for a being N/A and an Accord! I often surprise a lot of people. However, right now, I am more concerned about this part doing damage now...and later. My next plan is to pretty much rebuild and make the engine stronger; sleeving and new pistons &rods for the bottom end, new valves, springs, and retainers, and cams & gears for the top. After I throw all that money in and possibly run a turbo after that, I don't want my engine shaking apart and ruining all the work I'd done.
