I have a 2006 ZX 636. Moves out pretty good, a little slower than I had hoped for, but does the job.

Trust me, its my 48th bike and i can ride. obviously my idea of fast and yours (at a wopping 23 years old) are 2 different things. My last bike was a zx9. now that bike was fast. 100mph and the front would come up at 7k rpms with out feathering the clutch.

sounds like you can't ride. ZX636 is a damn fast bike.

i with you im not a fan of them, to slow

Your freind is full of Sh!t. I have topped mine out, 15,500 rpms in 6th gear and top speed is 162. Stock. the liter bikes will hit 170+. I go riding with alot of guys that race, when we go, we are always waiting on the rest of the group. And when they catch up they say"wow we were really moving" and we laugh.
The 636 is OK, I would even give it Quick. but its not that quick. first gear is the only one that pulls hard. after that its boring.
werd...my roommate has one and the bitch tops out at 176 bone stock. trust me, it's a sick bike.

so you bought a bike that you think is slow :shrug2:
you went from a 900 to a 600 :bash:
when i went from my ITR powered Sol to my Insight i thought the Insight was slow as fuck too... but compared to my rollerblades it was fast as fuck :shrug2:

was there even a point to this entire thread????

my young ass 23 year old self no doubt has a different view on speed.

a 636 will make it around back roads and tracks faster then most any bigger bike with the same riders + will be way more forgiving. on top of that the new 2000+ 600s stock stock will run the 1/4 mile just as fast as the new liter bikes due to them staying planted where the liter bikes will pull up or burn the rear tire, (read mag reviews on 1/4 mile times) now if you're stretching a liter+ size bike out then no doubt it will be much faster from 0-100 then a 600 but that would just prove the point that my sense of 2 wheel speed is different then yours.

Where the 600 no doubt sucks speed wise is over 100+ MPH liter bikes will keep pulling just as strong from 100-160 where the 600 will fall short.

My idea of fast is a bike that can hit twistys and get up to 100mph just as fast as anything else bike wise on the road.

No doubt your idea of fast is being a dumb ass and doing highway runs, why did you buy a 636 for a busa/ZX12R/ZX14R job?

each to their own.

And I'm with Esol, you're on your 48th bike, and you went from a 900 to a 600 and you want to bitch about it not pulling up at 100mph?

damn man you sure are stupid for making the change, then bitching about it and on top of that made a pointless thead. go over to some gixer forum and tell them how your kaw sucks.

yay you!

Iwas introducing my self and some morons had to get cocky. I bought the bike after listening to similar morons saying the 636 would walk all over the 9. Besides the 9 had flaws from the guy I bought it from and I figured I would just get a new one. if you don't get the point of the thread why put your unsolicited comments.

No my idea of fast is not on the highway like the dumbasses you talk about. I have a grand I coud walk all over you on the twisties, even on a slower bike like the 636 or a zx9. the weight is almost equal. I weigh 210 pounds and that kills a small bike. Put your money where your mouth is. You run your little moth pretty big for a buck fifty weighing little punk.

All I said was it was a little slower than I hoped for. I thought there were rules about trolls showing their ass on these boards.
I will race iether one of you trolls on the dragons back in Northern Georgia for a grand.
Sure I got rid of a 9 for a 636, and after ive hammered this one for 8 or 10 thousend miles, I'll go get another and onother. Cause I can. There will be a #50 and # 60. I havent lasted 26 years riding and racing due to luck. Put up or shut up.

That's why you PM with a title of bitch "watch your mouth punk, I was pistol whipping drug dealers when you were still shitting in your hands."

yeah I run my mouth for sure.

I was just introducing myself and as the thread said to show your ride. I did, and then you hiding behind your IP addy had to run your mouth recless when you know your safe, but if you talked that way with the person your talking to in front of you , you would get your pie hole closed.
your cocky rude comments speak volumes of your young ignorance.
Ive served my country in a war, been in life and death situations for my country, and see people like you and weep for our coutries future.
If you can't be respectful, don't bother posting in my thread.
Thank you

I would say the same things in front of you. I don't know of anyone who gets pissed off like you have over someone saying that no your bike is in no way slow like you say it is.

Again I'm the young dumb ass thats running my mouth, at least I didnt PM you saying you're a jackass noob.

That 636 is one hell of a flickable bike and it's a damn fast bike. with a good rider like yourself you should easily be able to get into the 10s in the 1/4 mile, that is in no way a slow bike, of corse if you want a very powerful bike that will do runs from 100+ then no doubt the 600 is under powdered for that kind of riding. but when it comes down to it, who really wants to run their bikes 100-180MPH on public streets? that 636 on a track is one sweet ass ride.

I'm not sure why you're getting so pissed off at the fact that I'm stating a point that the 636 is a damn fast bike (unless you want to do highway runs) you did talk about pulling wheelies at 100mph easily on your 9 so maybe thats what you like to do.

I didnt get pissed at what you said, how you said it. Just because I like a faster bike you assumed I coulnt ride.Like I said, speed is a relative term. I like to come out of the twisties with a bike that pulls harder, alot harder. I don,t do 1/4 mile runs. I come out of turns and hit wide open and its a little disapointing. I do like the bike just wish it had some more power. I like a little more power than you can use so all that limits you is your ability to ride, rather than power. The zx9 did come up a little too easy, but at least when I pulled out of a turn I could shoot past the guys I was riding with, and sure when you run the ragged edge, the ass end gets a little squirly when your hammering on the throttle trying to get to the next braking point to slow down. but its a rush to push your tires and abillities to the limits. I live in the country, and the roads are great for ridingfast. I ussually run 45 to 95 in the curves, depending on the curve and accelerate to 145 155 pulling out of them. I never really had a car till after I got married. The first time I hit a peg on the ground I was hooked. Never saw the need for a car. My nextbike will beiether a zx10 or an R1.

As with anything in righting, its not just how someone says it, it's also how someone takes it.
Being a bike rider yourself you should know better then most that 99.9% of street riders CANNOT push a 250 to its limits let a lone a 600cc + size bike, anytime I hear someone say a 600cc is too slow the first thing that comes to mind is yet another guy who wants to do straight line runs.

I still stand behind a 600cc bike pulling just as hard out of the corners (under 100mph) as a 1000cc bike, the main difference is the person on the 600 will have to keep the RPMs between 12-15K at ALL times. but if they do, it will hang with a 1000cc no problem.

I really like the old style ZX10R with the side high mount exhaust, I'm not a fan of the under tail ZX10R exhaust, because of that I'd go with the R1. Plus I have a few friends that race in the 1000cc class and they've seen more 10Rs breaking down then any of the other 3 major jap bikes.

The longer I stay off my 600 the more I want an R1/1000RR, but everytime I hoop on my bike and hit the backroads I remind myself of how much I DONT need the extra power.

no doubt I've love to have the sick torque the 1000s put out with much lower RPMs but over all the 600 has fit every need of mine.

Didn't Kaw drop the 636 in 07?

636 is no more, the last ones were in 2006. There is only the 600 now, probably due to the fact that 636s couldn't race the 600cc class, and so are really only good for the street. That would be fine and dandy except that Kawi doesn't really hold a large percentage of the 600cc class market, and of that market, most 600s are bought for the purpose of tracking. Dumb financial move also to offer 2 different bikes in the same market, imo of course. I'd take a yamaha, suzuki, or honda over a Kawi any day of the week based only on the history of the reliabilty of each perspective company's bikes.

I agree with jeffie. I had no problems keeping up with my friends on their liter bikes with my R6. I also like the older style zx10r and zx6r: they looked a bit edgier to me. Kawi has always had more reliability problems than the other brands, and I don't see that changing; although the slipper clutch they have is pretty trick. Are any of the other manufacturers putting OEM slippers in their bikes?

mrfreez - try riding the bike with the engine in a good part of it's powerband. If you've previously been riding a 900, obviously the 600 is not going to ride the same way. You need to adjust your riding style, shift points, etc, accordingly. A properly setup 600 would probably hand you your ass via lowside if you rode as aggressively as you say you do.

I have always been able to squeez every ounce of power out of a bike. I have raced freinds and beat em, the switched bikes and beat thenm on theirs. You don't ride for 27 years as your primary transportation and not figure out where a bikes power is. I hold my bike between 8 thousend rpms and red line. that is the only place it really produces. After riding for a long time on a what most call a fast bike, once you master its power, you get bored and are able to handle more and more. Like I said I will put money on. not just talking trash. I have only found 3 people over the last 27 years that can keep up with me that don't wreck all the time. When I was younger I only weighed 125 and the six's did well with me, now at over 200, it kills too much of the power. I run with some guys on GSB.com and we always walk all over everyone we ride with. weather on big bikes or small. When I had the zx9, (wich only weighs 40# more than the 636 and has 35 more hp) I also had two cbr600's a 95 and a 96, as track bikes and they were fun for a couple weeks and then I got the 9. I sold them cause i pretty much just rode the 9, then I traded the nine for a boat, and got the 636. The cheeser I sold the 9 to wrecked it the third time he rode it. I have 3 rear sprockets and 2 front for the 636 and after going up 3 in the rear it moves out better, but the extra body weight of mine robs too much. The reason you can keep up with the liter bikes is your freinds cant ride them as well as you can ride yours. Like I said I can beat guys on big bikes or small bikes, its all about knowing your bike well enough. I can ride the six a little better in the tight twisties, but when you sling out of the last of the apex is where you smoke em. Look at roberts jr, he had an inferior bike, and would work around everyone in the twisties, and get passed by 2 or 3 bikes upon entering the straights. It is just a total rush to come out of a long sweeping turn at a 100 and open it up and you actually have to hang on tight. Like the old Two stroke gp bikes back in Lawson, Rainey, Schwants, and miguel,s day

I will give you that but out here where I ride an accomplished rider can keep the bike between 75 and 145 where as some of the other guys we ride with are between 45 and 95 behind us. To them they were flying. I would not even ride if I had to hang behind them. I would have 1 hand on my hip for most of it.

as a 1000cc bike, the main difference is the person on the 600 will have to keep the RPMs between 12-15K at ALL times. but if they do, it will hang with a 1000cc no problem.
Trust me, my bike lives above 8 at all times. I am pretty hard on em. I can't see buying a sport bike and pampering it. And when I sell em, I let people know, I changed the oil every 1000 miles and rode it hard.

I have not experienced that, but if it does start to give me problems, I have no problem with getting a Yammy, Suzuki or Honda. I beat on em all.

The longer I stay off my 600 the more I want an R1/1000RR, but everytime I hoop on my bike and hit the backroads I remind myself of how much I DONT need the extra power.

Have you ever rode a R1? Try it, they are notas sluggish as people would have you think.

True, at 7k my p acted like you hit a nx button, I guess thats what I liked about it, the fish tailing wild excelleration out of the turns, I always felt the front brakes were a tad weak though.
Didn't Kaw drop the 636 in 07?
Yes, they were cheating with extra 36 cc's to keep up with the Other 3. I mainly stayed with Kaw due to the fact that I have 2 thousend dollars in racing leathers. A full suit and a green jacket and a green helmet. If I can get up to my target weight of 235 and can't wear my current gear, I will get a 56 size suit and go with neutral colors. Keep the green in case I fall back to a 54.
If I got out of line I apologize. I am a really agressive person, where I grew up in Detroit, you stood you ground and showed no weakness, and had to fight quite often to survive. Especially being white in a mostly black area.
Anyway. if you ever get down this way, I will take you out for what we call "A quick tour of the country side" and I mean quick.
Peace
