FALCON PUNCH!!!
Hitachi_1TB_drive.jpg

There it is :)

At an MSRP of 399.99, it's cheaper than Seagate's monster 750GB drive.

Who's gonna pick one or two of these bad boys up when they hit the shelves?

man, too bad I've got an LVM with 1+TB of space avaliable, it'd be nice to condense all of them down to one drive.

Less space. When you're building an all in one HTPC that has to be very slim, the bigger the better.

Personally I'd love to have a few of those for an array, but that's just me :)

sad bro....i barely fill my 160GB drive. When i did fill it i was doing developmental flash work, so i had 120MB vectors on my drive for initial concept and just never deleted them. When i left that marketing company, that 140GB used went to about 75GB. Thats with music, videos, and a couple TV shows.

Some people demand more drive space than others. People like B, CRX-YEM and myself require a metric fuckton of it. Hell, I just went to a terabyte in my backend and I am already feeling the pinch because of the amount of stuff I am loading that machine with.

It's all in the user. Some need supremely fast processors with top notch video cards. Others require half a Library of Congress worth of drivespace.

Depending on when those are released and when my tax check arrives, one may be in my future.

you guys should all just stick with what you have cause i guarantee that the seek time on that 1 tb hdd is slow.. not to diminish anybodies hopes and dreams but im a technician and we talk about this thing all the time

Wow, this will give the DVr's that I sell for cctv systems a whole 3 months of video. Cool.

Of course it's slow. However it really isn't designed for applications were lightning fast seek times are required. It's a data storage drive through and through.

Of course it would be no surprise if the next generation of Windows requires a drive of this size...

You want an OS drive with fast seek times? Get a Raptor.

That's if your HTPC has to be slim - which is lame.

Which is why I opted for a massive backend server with several very small frontend systems for each TV. Solves both problems rather effectively.

Except I need both, and have not the means to get either right now.

I still have my old 10k Ultra2 Ultrastars (9.1GB!) that I paid $400 each for. Still super fast on the seek times.

why fuck sata?

cause it's incompatable with the XBOX

Then that should be more like: "Fuck the XBox!"
