Just finished basic swap. What next?

What's up all. So I just finished my basic swap and am pretty pleased. The car is fast. But it needs to be polished off still.

Basically:

Motor mounted in chasis fine.
I had to turn the key for like 6 seconds and the thing came alive!
The ITR intake doesn't bolt down very well.
The headers ended up not bolting up to the exhaust since the diameters don't match, also about a 1 1/2" gap.

So, it looks like a CARB legal cat and cat back exhaust are in order. I just tied the exhaust together with coat hangers for this next week but... The car is friggin loud! It won't do, I just push the clutch in around cops for now...

What are some of the more quiet exhausts that still make decent power while staying legal too?

Are other cats able to pass Cali SMOG besides the USDM OEM Honda ones?

What do you guys think? Checkit!!

Also, thanks to all who have contributed to my posts in the last three months!!

good job man. looks really clean! greddy is always a good choice to go with if your looking for something with a nice tone. im sure most of their systems are 50 state legal too. go 2.25 or 2.5 in. pipes. you wont regret it. actually on my last setup i had a custom 2.5 inch pipe into an s2000 muffler. sounded sick and tone was very low until you open it up. if you have a cat on there youll be straight.

hey thanks. we spent the extra time to scrub off all of the corrosion that had built up. plus I put a new valve cover on and painted the radiator and heat shield.

I'll check out the Greddy thanks! It might be a little out of my price range right now tho.
I need to get a B series fuel pump and a CARB legal cat still..

also, I'm thinking about getting a Hasport driver side mount just to be safe. How many people have broken the weird stock oil mount? my buddy said his friend's broke and the motor was dragging on the freeway!! I def don't want this to happen. Any suggestions besides th Hasport mount?

to be honest your best bet is to get some es mount inserts. itll stiffen the whole setup nicely and take plenty stress off the brunt of the mounts themselves. and most importantly they are only like $40 for all the inserts. also, a whole hasport mount setup is a lot of dough, and will make the motor very very stiff. maybe too stiff for your preference. just a thought. def look into inserts. you can def afford an insert for each mount.

yeah I was thinking the same thing as well.

but what about poly inserts AND a hasport driver side mount. With a torque dampener too, it would prolly be too harsh on bumps or what?

If you want cheap, I think Innovative Mounts makes a replacement mount kit that you can use for your engine... good quality too.

You shouldn't need to upgrade to a HASport mount on the driver's side if you put everything together correctly. The OEM mounts will hold up just fine. Make sure it's all torqued properly.

cool thanks for the advice. I think maybe I will try my luck with just the poly inserts then. Hopefully that will settle the mounting of the motor forever.

Now on to exhaust..

MagnaFlow Catalytic Converter is CARB, they go cheap on ebay, you need to get them welded to fit, they have OBDII and OBDI cats

dont need a b series fuel pump the civc and integras are the same, but you can get a 255lph, for future mods

What ECU are you running? the JDM one or a USDM?

the jdm one for now.. I might try to go to the ref with the jdm one and see if I get lucky before buying the USDM ECU.

I was looking on E-Bay and found a Magnaflow Cat with 2 O2 sensors. But it said it wasn't legal in California.

What makes it legal in Cali. I thought maybe it was just that second O2 sensor that did it.

Product Search Results - MagnaFlow Catalytic Converters by Car Sound this link is to MagnaFlow Cat site and this one is CARB legal part # 42034 for the universal one for the integra

try and find a rsr exmag, or atleast the muffler and get custom piping.

apexi ws2 is always a good choice.

hey cool, there it is thanks!

what about this one?

eBay Motors: OBX High Flow Cat Converter for 94-01 Acura Integra GSR (item 170073706049 end time Jan-29-07 19:13:28 PST)

It might be easier for me because I can just bolt it on when I do the cat back exhaust.

Thanks Again, Good find.

Doesnt say anything about CARB but as long as it pass the siffer I think it would be in good shape, same with other CATs, Dude I'm in the same boat your in wanting to get my B18C ITR swap legalized.

Here is one thing to note, if you want a cat to peformance, your JDM OBDII ECU does not look for a 2nd o2 sensor, so you can run a test tube and stick it to Al Gore, and your childern of the future, its only like +2 hp so its up to you but will give you the best performace then any high flow cat can, Or just swap it out for the test tube when you take it to the track. You will not get a CEL with the JDM ecu

As long as your current cat of your civic works fine you'll be fine when it comes to passing smog or getting it to pass BAR, IMO

right, it needs to use the factory O2 position doesn't it?

that and I believe it needs to be CARB certified.

It reminds me of intakes, there's only a handful like AEM and Injen that are CARB legal.

what do you mean run a test tube btw?

What I'm saying is that if you still have your stock CAT on your civic, you can get your ITR exhuast manifold welded to fit, take that and use the cat to pass smog.

When it comes to performace, you can get a test tube, just a stright pipe to replace where the cat goes. If you run a USDM obdII ecu you cant run stright pipe becuase there it gets a signal from the 2nd o2 sensor and it will read that your cat is working improper and throw a CEL.
As for the JDM ECUs it does not look for a 2nd o2 sensor so you can throw on a test tube and not worry about a CEL

you can get a test tube off ebay, or just go to a muffler shop and have them fab you up one.
I run a test tube on my swap, only down side really is that it is way bad for the enviorment, but I dont really drive my car every day, mostly only days I go to the track
