I never thought I would try this, but it looks like I'm coming over into the Civic tuning world. I've been a RWD/ mid engine guy my whole life, and well it's time for something new. Actually this project just kind of fell into my lap so I couldn't turn it down. Oh and before anything I just want to thank everyone before had for any help you can give me, also don't get pissed if I ask a stupid question or two....this is my first swap.

So heres a little history on the project: A co-worker of mine has (well had now) a 95 Civic EX Vtec coupe, stick, that he was looking to sell. I wasn't looking for another car, but after he told me the price, well lets just say I have another car now. Overall it's in good condition, a faded red paint job, blown struts, and a little bit of "Honda rust" on the left quarter. But other than that it drives great.

Well on the other side of town a friend of mine was going to do a B18C1 swap into his CRX. But after changing his mind and deciding he wanted a boosted D series, the B18 went up for sale. After talking to him we struck a deal that we would trade motors (he takes the D from the Civic and I get the B, plus I gave him some cash). What made the deal sweeter is that he had a host of goodies with it and the engine and computer are all ODB1 (sweet!). So now I have a car and motor.

Next is the trans. The transmission he had on the motor was a cable from a B16...not going to work. Luckly my friend's co-worker had a freshly rebuilt LS trans that he was looking to unload. And before you make fun of me for getting an LS trans, I picked it up for well under half it would of costed me for a used GSR trans. So now I have all the major componets, it's the details I need help with.

First off what axles/half shaft do I need that'll fit a LS transmission and into a 95 EX hub? I'm looking to save as much money as possible so spending $350 on hasport axles is out of the question (unless thats the only one's that'll fit). Second off mounts? What kind do I need to fit this motor and trans into the shell? I think with those two items taken care of I will have everything to do the swap.

I'll keep this thread updated with pictures and write ups as I go along (and probably a lot more questions).

Hopefully this will help some:

First off what axles/half shaft do I need that'll fit a LS transmission and into a 95 EX hub?

I'm a 4th gen guy, but I think the same holds true for EG's- 90-93 Integra Axles and midshaft work.

You won't have to spend $350 on axles, but you will need to spend some money for Hasport's Mounts. Hasport Billet Mounts
Unfortunatly enough, the B16 trans would have helped you in the "budget" part of this project, because it would only reqire one mount to be changed- EGBCC kit- $199 vs. EGSTK kit- $399.

What kind do I need to fit this motor and trans into the shell? I think with those two items taken care of I will have everything to do the swap.

-Motor and Trans
-Shift Linkage
-Axles (90-93 teg)
-ECU(sounds like you already have an ECU. It should be a P72)

And luckily enough for you, it's an EX, so it's already wired in for VTEC and everything, so it's all just Plug n Play!

Not 100% sure, but I don't think you need to wire in the Knock and secondary IAT sensor.

And BTW, welcome to Honda. Please keep your hands and legs in at all times, and enjoy the ride!
:p

I thought You needed 94+ Teg Axels with an B18C? I'm prepping for this swap still to if I keep my car and am working on documentation... and don't you need the shiftlinkage from the Teg as well?

thanks, but I have axles on order already. The only piece I'm missing now is a half shaft and rear mount. If anyone has either of them I'm looking. Once Everything comes in the fun will begin, hofully I can get started this Saturday on it.

Im selling a half shaft for your swap. pm me if you still need it.
I could also get you the half shaft.

Im working on the same swap, but i wasnt lucky enough because I have a DX, i need to wire up the vtec witch sounds like a b@#$@ch. I also for the budget have a LS tranny.

actually you can use 90-93 axels as long as you use a 90-93 half shaft. Its not a big deal to change half shafts, especially since the half shaft that probably came on the motor is for cable integra trannys 93 and under. If you need a 90-93 half shaft they are all over the place and may save you some money in the long run on 94-01 axels.

The motor didn't come with any half shaft or axles. I have 94+ integra axles already so I need a 94+ half shaft now. I just can't find one for a decent price around anywhere.

Oh and an update, I pulled the motor out on Saturday so now I just have to clean up the engine bay a little bit and get the final parts to put the car together. I'm hoping to have it up and running in 3 weeks. :D

Half shafts are expensive, thats because they usually go with the motor they came on. Keep checking ebay and look on HondaMarketPlace. Ebay will be more expensive but the honda-tech forums honda market place usually has some good deals.
