I'm in the market for a decent, low-profile, floor jack. I would like to get one that can fit under our lowered cars. I found this one Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices but damn, $200. I've never priced a jack before since I used to work on cars at my friend's house using his tools. So is that a fair price? I know they have some cheaper ones but they don't lift the car up as high as I want. Got any other links of jacks I could look at? Quite frankly i'm just tired of driving the car onto blocks to raise the car so that the jack can fit.

ramps FTL! so unsafe.

$200 is average for a "racing" jack. that one looks damn short though.... no leverage.

good jacks are 1000 bucks, but those are 'two pumpers' that nascar and shit use
 
Blah, inspect them beforew you use them

8,000lb ramps to hold up my 2,600 car

I left it on there for 2 days when my waterpump was leaking, it was just fine
 
Got a large one for free from work. Little too big for the crx, it lifts up one side of the crx in 4-5 pumps. :) Other than that I use a scissor jack I got from a Jeep, it lifts up the car really quick.

it goes in the floor... it's not a 'jack' but... yea. at home for the quick jobs i just use the roush 'quick' jack... it's fully lifted in like 3 pumps.
 
i have a walmart jack that works great for changing the tires...

and those plastic ramps... yes! they are rockin! i have a set. definately a must have for quick repairs. i couldnt even fuck one up with a sledge.

I have the same jack you posted, but the 3000lb version. It was $120 or $140 or something, not $200.

Damn, I was kinda weary of those plastic ones... so they are good and safe? Do they have low ones so our front bumpers don't run into them?

I am getting one of these as soon as I get my own house, I live in a Modular Home so I don't have a garage...just a car port and a shed to put my tools in :(

So you agree with the plastic ramps? Maybe I should swoop up a set... I hate those dam wal-mart jacks, they are still too high to fit under most of the cars I work on with out driving the car onto 2x4's first

so how do you like it? The 3000 lbs one is like $129 but it only lifts the car up 14 1/2 inches...i need to be able to fit my fat ass all the way under it, including the creeper.

so how do you like it? The 3000 lbs one is like $129 but it only lifts the car up 14 1/2 inches...i need to be able to fit my fat ass all the way under it, including the creeper.

Last time I checked, I believe it said 17 1/2 inch lift which is average for jacks. 21inches was the highest I could find, and I found one or two with 19inches. It was pretty much common.

I would like it to go higher, but its lightweight, has a nice 3inch rubber saddle that doesn't bust anything on the car up, and if it needs to go higher, the car goes on jackstands on the first notch, let the jack down, pieces of wood, jack it up higher. voila.

Its 17.5inches, listed here.

Fuck I forget the one I have. A buddy left his tools in my garage and owed me money so it became mine years ago.

Snap On or Matco, and well its for lowered cars and I get full clearance with it within 4 pumps.
 
bitch please.... i got a 30 dollar one from Agway that will fit under my 2+ inch lowered civic and is sturdy as shit. Goes up about a foot. 200 bucks is re-donk-diculous.
 
I have a 3 ton Craftsman pump jack that works wonders and has never gave me a problem. Jack stands are a must too. I have 4 heavy duty ones. Ideally I'd love to get a lighter "race" jack, but I've heard that even the craftsman ones are kind bad.

D2 integrated air jacks FTW!
 
I have had good luck with the heavy duty one I got at autozone. It worked good for the civic and has no problem with any of my trucks except it is a little short for them so I have to lif tthem by the pumpkin. The craftsman heavy duty ones are good. I do not trust the skinny floor jacks from anyone. Jackstands are a must.
 
I like the craftsman ones but I think i'm gonna go with that harbor freight one I posted. I think i'm gonna swoop up a set of those plastic stands too

This is what I wanna get right here. I use one of those 3 ton crafts man jack, but it's a lot of work, I gotta use a scissor jack to get the car high enough for it to fit under the car then put the jackstands under. Then reverse the process, jack up the car, remove jackstands, lower the car back onto the scissor jack, remove floor jack, then lower the rest of the way with the scissor jack
