i dont understand it really. its competition for the gto. slightly less hp, 4 doors, but same msrp.

it looks nice, just doesnt make sense to me. why not just make a 4 door gto

GTO = sports car.

G8 = luxury car.


Its the same reason why there's a caddy with a vette engine and a vette.

In order to gain luxury status, you don't cheapen the name of your sports car and you don't alienate your luxury snobs by associating their car with that of an "econo sports car".

My fiance has a g6, I really like it. It has a 3.5 v6, the salesman said it would get 32 mpg on the highway. I wouldn't believe it, so she bought it, and it actually does. Big and comferatable.
