As the title says, this is my EK that I picked up about a few months ago and it is in bad shape. I have started making small changes to it. Added a rear lip, both some new fenders (not yet installed), getting some new suspension, new paint, new rims/tires, and an engine eventually.

Here are just a few pics of the outside. The car not at license plate addy FYI.

I know, I know, she is in bad need of some attention. For the price quote I got to get the car repainted, I just decided to stay with orange, gonna do a two-tone black/orange with flake, considering everywhere I have gone for a quote the cost is double to change the color.

Alot will be done to this car, so don't worry.

It actually looks in great shape, aside from the paint job.

What are you going to do with it? remove the body kit and do subtle exterior things?

Are swapping the front end back to stock & replacing the hub caps part of your plans??

Naw, gonna keep the front end cause I like it.

Not a body kit, just a aftermarket front bumper, which happens to be urethane, which is a good thing for where I live and go.

The only thing the exterior is going to get is a rear lip (installed if you can see it in the picture), new side fenders (the ones on there are fiberglass and have cracked on the driver's side), rims of course (got nothing against steelies though), and a paintjob.

The paintjob will be cheaper if I stick with orange and not do a color change. So, I will be getting the car painted a 2-tone, black/orange with a flake running along the body line. I think it will look good if I get a darker orange. One thing idk is whether or not to get the the doors shaved (keep the door handles though, friend of mine got locked out his car after he got it all shaved and battery was dead.)

This will be a ongoing project. I got $2500 right now, another $3500 in savings (which is for "emergencies"). Here is a chance to influence a peep about car build.

Give me your thoughts.

I hate to say it, but i would paint the roof black to tie it together, leave the tangerine body and ghost an orange and yellow decal job, narrow at the middle and "busier" at the back. Continue whatever design (Thorns?) onto the black parts in a ghosted dark grey . White Konig Heliums in 17", black interior and factory side mirrors FTW.

You know, that paint scheme of paint the top black and leaving a majority orange color is an idea. I wish I had photoshop so I could get a idea of how it would look.

As for rims, I was thinking rota subzero (16x7) gunmetal w/polished lip, what about those ?

a nice set of 17" black wheels with a polished lip would look good on there especially if they tuck. are you gonna put any type of spoiler on it?

car looks good...cant wait to see more progress pics :)

i'm not trying to be a dick, but why didn't you just buy something stock or a car with a swap then then do the outside? it would save a lot of money.

or did you really build it that way and come to your senses now you want to fix it?

I'll photochop for you when I get home. I need higher res photos though. Attach the original photos in this thread and I'll take the case.

Haha, the moment I read that, I immediately said "Phhoootoooo CHOP!" in my head Mike Meyers style.

That car doesn't look half bad. The rims are definitely sexy, though. I'd keep them and get 'em chrome plated =P

How many horsepowers do ram air scoop get? depending on wind speed.

j/k

But seriously, that car has ten times more unused holes in it than a nun.

first thing, get a camber kit for the rear or use some washers.
second thing, paint your rear bumper orange and the roof black.
third thing, get some stock side mirrors and paint them orange.
fourth thing, get a stock gas cover and ditch the chrome one.
fifth thing, repaint side skirts orange.
sixth thing, get some black mesh thingees for all those fuckin holes.

Good luck color matching.

are the doors a different orange?

oh yeah, your car looks like a big ass candy corn.

Yeah, the driver's door is jacked up. When the kid got it painted, they fucked it up and didn't use enough paint on it.

I know, I am gonna get rid of that hood and probably get another cf hood to go with it, speaking of that, cf for sale is someone wants it. Hit me up with offers, don't lowball me.

Can't beat the price of $1000 for the this car. Anyway, I already have a motor (built b18c5 that is gonna be dropped in) that is gonna be swapped in.

The car had 17x7's on it when I got it and they were freaking heavy. Plus there was less tire than I like. I want to 16's cuz they are lighter, better gas mileage, and more tire without rubbing the fender. Plus, 16's tuck better 17's IMHO.

First mods to this will be fenders and new suspension.

I don't know whether to go with stock fenders or aftermarket. As for the suspension, that will KYB AGX with some H&R Sport Springs with a camber kit (getting one from a friend, I think it is SPC), suspension the first priority bcuz this car's suspension to damn stiff making the ride rough as hell.

Since the motor will be getting pushed back, I figured I would go ahead and make the car visually pleasing for now. :D

those are 17" ADR DV-8 rims and the suspension is Ground Control coilovers. the coilovers were set at their lowest point in that picture. maybe that will give you an idea??

Alright, I will get a better pic up for you ASAP.

As for the 17's, the car had 17's on it when I got it and I didn't like them cause they were just way to heavy and cumbersome for me. The gas mileage on the car was like less than 250 miles per tank. Just horrible, that is why I put the steelies back on it while I wait for new rims.

Need some help guys, I want to replace the carbon fiber hood on the car with something less, idk, but I want something else that will mesh better with the body like the Evo style cf hood. Also, I want to get some blacked out headlights but I don't know where to go, know any places where I can get some quality headlights ?

Thx for the help.

you want quality headlights, get some oem ones with some aftermarket h4 bulbs. you can take of the glass and have the inside painted.

you can also get an oem carbon fiber hood and have it painted to match the car. it will be hard to get a lot of exterior advice on HS, a lot of us are more into "go" than "show".

I feel you on the "go" part. Here is an update on the "go" part of this build as I have hit a snag to hold up that part of the build.

UPDATE:
First off, I bought a motor (B18C5) off a friend on mine that has a built bottom end. But, there was a catch, the block may or may not be messed up. I took the chance and bought cause the price of the internals was hella expensive and I didn't have that kind of money. Anyway, I took the block to a reputable shop that does the best work I have seen.

Well...,

I took the block to a performance shop up in Marietta called Forged Performance (great shop, highly recommend) and as I thought, the block is totally useless. When the motor was put together, it was done poorly and when the holes for the head studs were bored out for 1/2 studs, they were drilled crooked. The block is useless but, on the bright side, all the internals are still great (Darton Sleeves, JE Pistons, Manley Rods, ARP Rod Bolts, and Type R Crank).

Now I have a dilemma, I want to get another block and reuse the internals, which is possible, but I don't know what block to get.

Here are the choices:

1. USDM B16 - 1250
2. USDM B20 - 950
3. JDM B18 - 850

Here the thing, the sleeves are bored out to 84mm to accept, as you might guess, the 84mm pistons. If I remember correctly, the B20 is 84mm stock.

I really need some advice on which way to go as this is going to be my turbo project.

I will post pics of the block when I get home just to show you guys something.

THX

what motor did you buy??? did you buy a short block or long block?

if you have a vtec longblock.. id buy a b20 bottom end, put all the internal parts in it, put the vtec head on, tap the block (can be done at a shop for like 200 bucks) and turbo that. 2 litres with the flow of a vtec head sounds good to me.
