I see all these threads on swaps blah blah blah well, I am here to tell you it can be done with a lot of patience, mad research and money. It takes a lot of troubleshooting especially if you and your buddies do it like me. IF your rich, Pay!!!

Fulfilling My Dreams!!! click on swap pics!!! enjoy and get motivated, and if anyone knows how to pass emissions let me know.

Stats of my car:
-JDM H22
-P13 ECU (Stock) OBD1 connected with a Piggy Back Harness
-So that's OBD 2 converted to OBD1 in simple words
-Field AFC/VTEC Controller (Map sensor currently disconnected)

Maryland emission Law:
97+ years with ODB 2 connections are connected to a diagnostic machine to tell what's wrong with the car. It check for Tampering with ODB plug, CEL Light, and ODB communications.
Where I failed:

My car failed on OBD 2 communications (I am assuming this because of my swap converting the OBD 2 to OBD 1 for the ECU) Basically the computer is trying access an OBD1 ECU and it's failing because the OBD 1 ecu was not made for that type of diagnostics.
Has anyone had this problem? If so, do you know of a way to wire up the OBD 1 ECU to communicate with the OBD 2 adapter/diagnostic machine? I honestly think I am assed out but I was thinking I could purchase a used OBD 2 ecu and connect it to see if that works, but I doubt it because that motor wired up OBD 1.

Yea, you have to get an obd2 ecu. Hook that up, run the car about 30 miles and let it sit for at least 8 hours, if you have no check engine light your good to go. I can't remember all the details but if your motor is wired for obd1 you'll have some trouble getting rid of the check engine lights. But the only way to get through emissions with a 96 and newer car is use the obd2 ecu. I went through the same thing, but knew what I had to do to start.

What year engine is it, or is it an obd2 or 1 engine?

Yeah same here I knew it was a matter time, last time I passed the dudes where lazy and gave me a waiver. I think I have a OBD 2 P13 ecu that will work, I'll just have to hook it up to my OBD 2 harness without the piggy back harness, hopefully I won't get a check engine light as long as the knock sensor is hooked up through the stock wiring I could care less about vtec until I switch back ecus, I just gotta get there with no lights and back and I should be good. Hopefully my joint doesn't complain about EGR 12v low/high lift crap, although I got a recall in the mail about the emisssions on my car so maybe I'll check that out if my joint fails again.

wow, good job.

1)no offense man, but a black man in a CL with wires hanging out? thats asking for trouble. haha

2)get rid of the fields asap. if i'm thinking of the right thing, the technology on those is really old. use a better tuning program like ostrich or crome.

3)nice bike

4)welcome to hondaswap

No doubt but next time please refrain from the jokes, that is not my style and although I know you had good intentions, I am not feeling that. Blacks, whites, hispanics, we all have loosers in our respective cultures that steal and have a name for stealing so "black man", "white man", hispanic man" when it comes to stealing and everything else we are people and you could of just easily phrased it as A man in a car with wires hanging out is asking for trouble!!! Yes Two black guys successfully swapped an h22 into a cl with no help from anyone, just good ole knowledge and troubleshooting. You know.......we can actually do what other people can too....! Otherwise thanks for the props on your other comments. Holla

whoa whoa whoa. don't take any of that the wrong way. i'm not trying to start any issues here. but the members of this board all pretty much know each other and that with 99% of stuff being said there is never any malicious intent.

i guess my black friends are just a little different than you. most of them around here are minorities and are so use to the profiling, they are able to joke around about it. my bad...

Very nice website Sir.
I see you also work on bikes... How hard was it to do the frame on that gixxer? I have a 929rr and im thinking of polishing the frame, but im not sure if i want to go thru all that trouble.
I went thru your whole site.lol I even saw the clip about your sisters tight shirt/jacket. lol.

Ohh and the swap came out nice..Now turbo that beast:p

Good Luck!

No problem its all good, I am from the east coast and for the most part we joke but it's so hard to tell sometimes from reading text. I might of over reacted but certain stuff you just got to nip in the bud otherwise no knows how you feel etc... it's all good know harm taken and thanks for the heads up on that field unit. I gotta pass emissions first LOL

Hahaha you a trip homie hahah LOL my sis hahah that is funny hahaha my mom just looked so disgusted. Any how thanks for the props, if you can pay someone 400 bucks to do it than its worth it, if its more than i'd say 500, I would do it myself, its not hard just tedious and time consuming. Thanks for the props again.

Yeah the guy that works on my bike told me $450 to do the frame, but for some reason he said he wont polish the swingarm...:(
O well fuck it.

I'll just do it when i get my car done.^_^

I am near D.C. (military haven,) in Maryland and Virginia is big on military too.
eh, i wasn't stationed there, i was just there when our unit was flying security over the capital. i hated virginia. at least you guys have good rap stations over there. home of PHARELL & Clipse bitches!!! haha

anyways, more props on the swap. one of the first h22 CLs i've seen.

hahah no doubt, they always do the swing arm separate because if he is good, he'll take it off and do it, which means he has to re attach the chain (most guys don't have the special tool needed for that) but 450 is about the going rate. I hear ya, car then bike, it's all good,

hahahahah lol I feel you dawg, it's all good, but yeah rap stations every where you go or listen lol, I get tired of it all actually but maybe that's cuz its everywhere. Thanks for the props on the cl hahaah its funny cuz alot of people do not expect it, so I love it. Funny thing is its going on 3 years strong!!! and runs damn strong with 125,000 on it body 148,000 so I can't complain, although now I am in the market for a mid sized truck. Looking at the Frontier or tachmoa

ahh shit... I just saw the bike tricks... Nice
I gave up on that. I have back problems and poppiN' wheelies kept fucking me up even more.
Now i just drag race..lol My bike is extended 6" and lowered about 1 1/2 from the ground.

btt: oh and yeah turbocharge that CL.

Sweet, down south they do alot with extending swing arms. I got off the roads last year though, too many people not paying attention and I ain't trying to die, so I am strictly at the track now. Don't worry, I am going to force induct the CL, just waiting for the money to be right, but its coming in the near future :)

Wow, now that's what I am talking about, nuff respect man, I can't tell you how good it is to see someone working on their own shit. I know a lot of people do, but let me tell you this, when it comes down to asking people who have claimed have done it, they can not tell you because they Paid someone. I can definatly rap with you on some shit beacuse we have both torn these cars apart and rebuilt them!!!, Nice work and that set up you working with is gonna be a beast. My boy has a RHD Vr4 Galant stright off the boat and he is converting it over to a single turbo setup using that gt35r you are using with your setup. How do you like the AEM cam gears and fuel rail? I have those too but haven't had a chance to put them in, they've been sitting for like a year LOL. Is it true the AEM fuel rail can only take the AEM FPR?

nahhh. you can use any fpr. You can just run ssbl with a -6an fittings to run whatever regulator you want to use. pretty simple.
As for the cam gears, its my first time using them so i have no idea how well they perform.

The gt35r turbo is fucking sick. I got it yesterday and cant wait to slap it on.
The civic im building used to be automatic before so i had to cut and weld the motor mounts in order for the manual tranny to fit properly. im the shit..lol jk.

Im aiming for 450hp with stoock sleeves. Maybe next year i get my block sleeved and go for 600 + HP... Not bad for a sleeper four door civic huh...lol
