remove the hoses from the rack instead of up at the engine, then turn the steering wheel back and forth a few times to get all of the p/s fluid out of the rack. That way you won't need a catch can under the hood and you can clean all of those lines out of the way.
Im not sure why you wanna get rid of the power steering, it doesn't take really any hp away, but hey, to each their own.
I suggest you get a manual rack from a civic without power steering, it will be easier to turn than a power rack with no assist.
The line you have a red arrow to is the pressure line, and the larger blue one is your return, Im not sure what the smaller blue one is, unless it has something to do with the p/s cooler that runs on the front of the car.

how much work is it to put in a non p/s rack? I'm actually just wanting to clean up the engine bay an the turbo kit im getting doesn't have room with the p/s. Its also gonna be my weekend drag car. What is all involved in swapping racks? I'll do some serious research in this. But I'll still need help. Thanks for the advice so far welfare

it is a little involved to swap out the rack, you need to actaully swap out the whole lower subframe, maybe a little more than you wanna do, but if you had the time you could do it.

yea that might be more work than i want right now, so if i route the two lines, the return an the exit, what do i do with the pressure line? just remove it?

remove the hoses/lines from the rack (there are 2) instead of up at the engine, then turn the steering wheel back and forth a few times to get all of the p/s fluid out of the rack. That way you won't need a catch can under the hood and you can clean all of those lines out of the way.

If you want to get rid of all that hardware, you can always opt for a power steering removal kit from stealthmodeperformance.com. They go for 90 bucks. Or you can make them on your on. I will be attempting to do so and will try to post my progress.

i wasn't gonnna remove them up there anyway, i want all that gone. So im suppose to drain all the fluid an remove the hoses an just leave the rack dry? I was looking into that kit tunerboy, its sounds good. I'll wait till you get yours an see how it works for ya.

there are only 2 lines, I don't understand why you think there are more, you have pump, it has apressure line coming off the top, that goes to your rack, then from the rack to the resivoir is the return line, there may be a cooler inline here, which runs along the front of the car, then there is a short thin rubber tube that goes from the resivoir to the pump.

The red one is the same red one as in the first pic, the pressure line, the two with the blue arrows are the ones that go to the current resevoir and through the cooler.

do not drain fluid from rack it provides lubrication and keeps the rack from fing up. folloe instructions on kit and you should be fine.

This is very important. I remember when I had my civic ex and I disconnected the power steering and took off all the hardware and the wheel kept locking up when I took out for a test drive because all the fluid ran out of it.

i feel like an idiot, i looked at it again an welfare, you were right there are only two, the pressure hose goes through the firewall. Now for a new problem, where do i find it, and how do I get rid of it
