What kinda of #'s should I expect from my GSR.. Very mild build inside..

Here's the scoop.. I have a 94 GSR sedan. I have a blown headgasket that I'm fixing. Since I have to take the cams out, there is no reason why I shoudl'nt put bigger and better cams back in! AND since the IM will be off, why not upgrade that too..And since I've done all this, well I have to get it dyno tuned now don't I?
Dont'cha love my reasoning? :D

After all is said and done, I will have the following mods done to my GSR:

NEW 98' spec ITR cam/valve springs
Skunk2 IM
Fidanza Adj. Cam gears
JDM ITR header
AEM modified CAI
2 1/4 Greddy Exhaust
Dyno tuned w/chrome
I have a healthy engine (save for the headgasket) w/approx 78,000 miles.

What kind of #'s should I expect? From what I've gathered, with my mods I should expect at the minimum 160 to the ground but more realistically I'll be around 170+.

Am I expecting too much, too little.. Help me out. I'm so freakin stoked about this.. Man, I can't wait!!! If my money situation goes well, I'll have enough to do this by the end of March (dyno tuning included) ;) Everything is purchased save for the dyno/tuning.

depends on they dyno, but i would expect around 165 tuned whp. not quite ITR numbers, but close.

It all depends on your tune. I would personally go for more aggressive camshafts and back it up with your dyno time- I've seen a stock internal GSR block make 195whp on a Dynojet with the same mods you're looking at but with Skunk2 stage 1 cams.

just throwin it out there, but port match the intake manifold and possibly get a few hp too.

While you have the head off, get it milled to bump your compression a bit. The cams will love it.
I am getting the head milled, since the whole reason I'm doing this is because of a headgasket. Gotta make sure the head isn't warped. I havn't decided if I'll go w/a stock headgasket or w/a 2 layer yet. We'll see. I know compression will help the cams do their job and I'll make more power.

Yep, doin that too. I've ported heads/IM before (just basic stuff w/a dremel) before and I know this can net me another pony or 2. I'll gasket match the IM and clean up any castings there may be. I'll do the same w/the head as well, depends on how froggy I'm feeling that day :D

I'm also do away w/the throttle bypass line.. or whatevr the line is that's suppose to heat up the IM for cold days (can;t think of it the name). Not too many of those in Fl so I don't need that extra heat.;)

I'm also in the process of making a catch can so that crap doesnt go back into my engine.;)

And when it all goes back together, I'm indexing the spark plugs for the 1/2 hp that'll give me.. But every little bit counts, right?;)

I'm also doing something else you guys have probably never heard of. There is such a thing called a Murphy Switch. It's been used in diesel applications for years in stuff like farm equipment that has to be runs for hours even days on end.

In short, what it does is it's hooked to a switch and is either temperture activated or pressure activated. You can hook it say to a fan, so when the temp reaches a desired limit, it'll cut a fan on (like in our cars). But it also can be wired into the ignition so if th eengine starts to overheat, it'll kill the engine so it doesn't blow up. Also can be used in conjunction w/oil pressure so if the oil pressure ever drops below a certian lbm it'll shut the engine off before it blows up. It's a fail safe type thing. I'm gonna run one w/my water temp and set it at 225.. I won't ever have to worry abotu my car overheating ever again.:D

Though my post count is low, I'm not too much of a n00b. Just figured I'd get some opinions from the guys at Honda-Swap. Any more info is welcome.

And because pple like video's, heres a couple for ya. Enjoy.
My car (crappy shifting because I wasn't racing anybody) Listen to the Vtak
My Open ITR Header
My buddy's 07 S sedan, me doing the video.
07 Civic SI W/SRI

Enjoy.

for 50 bucks pick up a hondata intake manifold gasket and match that if you can. its cheap, will reduce temps, and give you an extra hp wOOt for 1 hp!! :p

I actually bought the password JDM gasket (same thing) for $11.00 shipped on Ebay :)

Unfortunately (well sorta) I'm buying some ground control coil overs/KYB struts for $250.00 this weekend.. Thats taking the rest of my money so my engine build is gonna be delayed slightly.. But at least I'll be dropped ;)

Actually.. this is what my car will look like Sat afternoon ;) Except it'll have red fenders and bumper :p

fodo teggies are too long looking IMO>. . nice none the less.. but i prefer a 2dr integra..

fodo ftw.

Have the head shaved while its in the shop. Might as well bump compression a tad =D

It seems to be either a love/hate thing when it comes to 4dr tegs. I like them MUCH better than the 2 drs.. And there isn't a sexier car than the JDM 4dr ITR.

I shoudl be done w/the drop Friday night and I'll have the Blades on it Sat (rollin on black rota slips at the moment).. So Saturday evening I'll post some pics.. Or I might do a lil DIY thread on the drop and post all the pics in there.. We'll see.

Maybe I can be like Andrew and his uber CRX engine swap thread (my bro-in-law) ;)

To answer my own question.. A guy I know who has a GSR hatch with the following mods:
Skunk2 IM
Buddy Club exhaust
DC sports 4-1 header
AEM intake
Dyno tuning
GSRDyno.jpg

I'll have more stuff done to my car than him, including cam gears and ITR cams :)

I'm also in the process of making a catch can so that crap doesnt go back into my engine.;)

And I'll index my spark Plugs.;)

Hows the can's coming along? welded any up yet?

 at you repeating yourself.

Hmmmm about 21whp from bolt-ons???? Your friend is lying to you he has alot more done than that. Stock GSR's only put down 170hp to the crank not trying to start shit just throwing in my .02

Nope... Thats it. The internals have never been touched and he doesnt have nitrous.

It's a bolt on motor. Now, remember too, that it's tuned. Also, I've seen several dyno's on team-integra w/guys in the 160's untuned, which is what he was before the tuning.
