guys i NEED to know this, i have a b20/vtec rebuilt, the WHOLE block and the WHOLE head, all stock components, what is the safest i can redline that motor with ARP head studs, rod bolts and main bolts???

The best thing to do is dyno the car and find where it stops making power. There's not much since in revving it past there.

Sounds like all stock parts.
Theres nothing really we can do for you in this regard. He's 100% right when he says to get it on a Dyno to see for sure.

If I had to guess, probably 6-7k safely

its a b16 head, stck internals, but i think im getting gsr cams for it... just dont wanna blow it first thing, would the cams make a difference how high i redline with cams though, isnt it involved with the rods/pistons???

I dont believe that!! 6-7 I always thought it was capable of 8-9 easily:mellow:

my brother in law is running b20/vtec swap and hes reving up to 9200rpm's. running stock internals with a gsr head on it. i dont see why you shouldnt be able to do that safely.

Oh I did know it had a GSR Head on it:eek: I do believe that thou

the factory safe rev limit is 8200 on the b16

but you should let the motor break in for a few hundred miles

before you rev that high, you dont want to spin a new bearing

and have to rebuild again or damage the crank;) "D"

I said "Safely". There no reason to rev the piss out of your motor up to 9,000rpm if you stop making power at 7,500. ESPECIALLY on a near stock motor.

Blanco said it best... "Boy, that sure is intelligent."

it seems to make plenty of power ALL the way up to 9000rpm's. the shop that got the bottom and top end for him said he CAN rev up that high no problem. they even have his engine under warranty and they sold him the ecu that lets him rev up that high. the shop said "yes you start getting into those higher rpm's you are risking grenading the motor but i wouldnt worry to much about it until 9500rpm's and once you replace LMA's with type R's LMA's and upgrade the valve train you can go up to 10,000rpm's. you are still in risk of grenading the engine but no matter what you do reving that high your risking grenading the engine" but like i said they have his engine under warranty KNOWING he can rev to 9,200 RPM's.

Thats good have warranty lol.. I always knew that motor can rev high:D

If it's a stock head I doubt it's making more power than the original B16's rev limit. Just keep it around 8000rpm and you should be fine.

well it does. but that's kinda.....? besides the point. yes i would say it easily revs into the 8's and can go into the 9's........ and as some of these guys are saying "it doesnt make power that high" i say ride in a car with a B20/vtec swap that revs into the 9's (since nobody on here really seems to have on) and THEN and only then say it makes no power. this summer hes going to dyno it and we will post up the results for you guys to poke at, and incase you guys happened to miss it, it has a GSR head on it not a B16 head.

If you were referring to my post; I'm commenting on the original topic poster's question. If you're talking about your own engine, make a new topic. And yes, I've rode in a B20/VTEC car(EG coupe), but he shifted at ~8300rpm. I don't know what else was done to the car besides the obvious bolt-ons.

Like we've been telling you, it may feel like it's making power, but Butt-dynos mean nothing when your revving that high.

Get it on a Dyno and PROVE that it's making power there.

its a shop that all they do is honda. SS Imports in portland,OR i would imagine they know what they are talking about since they are obviously making a living and OWN the shop. the way you guys are talking makes it sound like it makes NO power after 7,800 rpms as in the car should be slowing down after you reach that rpm but the b20 keeps pulling all the way up to 9grand. maybe it doesnt make as much power at 9000 as it does at 7800 but it is still making more power at 9 then it is at 6. also yes i. also, WOW blanco your so good at being sarcastic!!! oh man i would love to come out to afganistan and hang out with you if it wasnt such a shit hole over there and you werent such a prick!!!!.....have we bombed your house......err i mean your mud shack yet? ell well im sure we will then you can bitch like all the rest of the filthy.......afgani's. well have fun with your goats and im going back to rebuilding my dodge's engine this week.
P.S. if you would offer HELPFUL advise and not just rip on people then you might help someone out there. people like you are the reason that afganistan is a shit hole. we should pack up all the dumb asses in OUR country and ship them over there.....(oh wait we have already started to)

I say revving that engine past 8500 rpm on stock internals, is risking valve float.
I wouldn't rev higher than that.
If your power level drops after 7500rpm or so then there really isn't much reason to rev higher.
Try shifting to the next gear to go faster.
Do forget RPM = Ruins peoples motors.
