whats the purpose of having a f22 block with h23 heads, non vtec. i was informed h23 block is weak but heads are strong, and sohc is pointless on f22 block so combining the two you make some more horses. is it true and does everything that fits in the f22 head , fit on the h23 head, also wouldnt you need a ecu, wiring harness, and intake manifold, headers, what would be the difference between h22 dohc and f22 with h23 dohc, besides vtec.????
 
Twin cams instead of SOHC. The Intake Manifold is really where the most of the gain comes from. You can bolt a H23 intake mani up to your f22 motor and still gain power without spending a bunch or putting a lot of time into it.

Did you not read what Turbo&Auto just told you? The majority of the power gain between the F22 and H23 comes from the intake manifold. Swap an H23 intake manifold onto your motor and it will give you a nice gain. I don't really see the point of taking off your VTEC head to swap to an H23 head. It's not quite a bolt-on procedure plus you'd need a new ECU to make it work.

Stick with the F22 and put an H23 intake mani on it.

Aren't you selling this car anyway??
 
no this isnt for my pos. that car isnt getting any special attention, just asking for a friend. Igot a h22, i dont think my car is worth effort. im still getting the car ready for paint, almost done . my buddy has the same car but wants to boost with dohc on his f22. i told him there was a option of swapping heads but i didnt know the finer details, i wasnt sure if a dohc h22 or h23 would fit his application. hes planning on boost but who knows when.
 
CB7tuner.com - 4th Generation Accord Online Community has a whole section on swaps. the "g-series" are a semi-popular altercation, but like has already been said, it's much easier to just swap the im because you really don't gain that much from swapping the whole head for the trouble. however, there may be more gains if your friend will be boosting it.

im actually almost done with the swap, its more bolt on than most ppl think. im also using a dsm manifold and 16g setup on the motor as well. right now its all bolted together and just waiting on a dizzy and timing belt. i would say the most difficult part of the swap is the lack of information. there are a ton of ways to do the swap with all the block piston and crank options, so research and find which one is best for you. im doing the swap simply because no aspect of my life or my car can be left alone, if your up for doing something diff. and cost effective do it. its alot of work but easier than most say. good luck :ph34r:

Now to do that would u use the f22 intake gasket or the h23 intake gasket cuz i have whole h23 motor and if i get more power with just the intake manifold i have no reason for the rest of the motor. so what gasket should i use or are they both the same???
 
so I have to fine a 96 honda prelude si in a junk yard and take out the intake m.f and it should bolt right up to my 96 honda accord LX (f22b2), correct?
 
That's what i'm guessing. I was considering trying the whole Frankenstein engine thing, but now that I've discovered this, I'm going to the junkyard this weekend and find me an Intake Mani and bolt it to my 94 Ex. Thanks guys!!

Well theres more to it , then just a bolt up . Ive done this swap about 7 tmes now and there is some modifications involved. For one is that the vtec oil pressure switch is going to be in the way of the intake manifold bolt flange. Its an easy process of grinding the left side of the flange about a one inch at an angle. The second is EVERY LINE ( vaccum, coolant, fuel, electric, ect.) will have to be extended to reach its destination. I recommend putting the intake together in the car , mount the intake first then the plenum and throttle body last. There isnt much space to work with , thats why the IACV is located on the front of the h23 intake. If you need anymore info just let me know.


Also, I have a h23 intake manifold with all sensors and throttle body with the fuel rail and all , everything you need for the swap except the fuel injectors , which the ones from the f22 will work just fine with a set of h23 injectors gaskets, O-rings.
If your really want to HYBRID this motor then swap the h23 dohc non vtec head on the f22 block , got a complete head for sell too !! With only 69,000 miles .
