whats the difference between supercharging and turbocharging what's best for a crx?

tubos work off of exhaust so its free hp,,,superchargers work off the motor with a belt to it so it makes power but it also takes away hp at the same time;. so go with a turbo

I would also go with turbo, but with a turbo you have lag which is the time it takes to spool the turbo and create power...with a supercharger you have a constant power source, which means that you car will constantly build boost...i also believe that you can push more pounds of boost on a turbo but correct me if im wrong.

either one can give you more torque. superchargers use pulleys and turbos use exhaust pressure to force more air into your intake.

with turbo, if you want more power you just have to turn up the boost and add fuel. with the SC you need to change a little bit more stuff around.

this has been asked a million times. yes it can be done. no, it's not worth it. any turbo's will work it will just cost 1 gazillion dollars.

if you have to ask, you won't be able to do it yourself. you will have to fabricate everything and make custom manifolds and fittings. it really isn't worth it, thats why nobody does it.

if you want more advice, try to explain your justification on doing it.

have you ever seen a 1000 hp supra? what do they do? they take off the twin turbo setup and use a single turbo. with a 4 cylinder engine, you wont have enough turbo lag to make it worth while. stick with the single unless you can explain why.

its just a question that i had. i read the make your own homemade turbo and i was just wondreing if it was possible to make a twin turbo. i am still a newbie at this, all i know is that the single turbo has a lag, and a twin turbo has less of a lag and produce more hp, so i was just wondering thanks for the responses

no problem man. it just isn't reasonable to do. but yes, it has been done. single is the way to go.

j/w if you get larger size tires/rims for your car how would you modify the car and the alignment on it? what i know was that with larger tires/rims the speedometer gets sorta messed up and doesn't read correctly how would you fix that?

yeah but tq is fun at low rpms... then you can work through the rev range under boost rather than waiting for a turbo to spool. another thing to think about is that supers are HARD on valvetrain parts because they are constantly under boost. that and "turning up" the boost is a bit more expensive because they require modifications ( i.e. big boost pulley kit) to get more cfm out of them.
