I have an obd1 Prelude and I had a h22a swapped into it. When you start the car it starts popping, and sputtering, it's def. misfiring, sometimes it runs better when it's cold but when it warms up it starts running like shit. The gas is good. Any help would be greatley appreciated. I have brought by many mechanics and they are all questionable. Thanks

fuel filter mabe

But why would it run fine when it is cold and not when it heats up to normal temp for the fuel filter. I mean I understand where you mean that could cause the boggin maybe, but not the rest of the problem. If that is how you mean by saying the fuel filter.

well when you drive it while its cold does it bog

It was taken to honda but they have no obd1 code readers for the whole car so they aren't sure. Thats wat they said.

that's funny....I believe the new Honda HDS unit's have an attachment so that it can read OBD1 codes. Just trip the two pin connector and watch the blinking lights.

Yea I dunno, they said because it has a swap they don't want to touch it. It came with a h23a and we swapped an h22a in it out of I believe a 97 prelude. And because it is swapped they dont want to mess with it. It is my friends car, but we are just gonna look at it tomorrow and check it out, because I haven't had a chance to look at it. I stopped by today and it was miss firing bad. Im just gonna jump it with the paper clip and read the code.

I had that same misfire problem when my car would warm up. It ended up being bad spark plug seals between the head and the valve cover letting oil fowl up the plugs and plug wires.

take it to a mom and pop shop have them check the codes and then get a repair manuel and trouble shoot the prob that is the only real way to figure out what your prob is.
