So

America was fed up with capitol hill so they voted them Dem's into power in the house and senate. They said they were going to fix things up, and there is ALLOT to be fixed. A short list.

Global Warming
Social Security
Health Care
The War on Terror
Income Taxes
Energy
Abuse of power and lack of morality of elected officials

I think we all know I could go on. Our friends in office who were elected ran on the promise that they would get right to work. It's been 60 days now, let's take a look.

The only major debate on capitol hill has been whether or not lawmakers will pass a non binding resolution communicating a lack of confidence in president bush's Iraq policy.

What are we the fucking united nations?

we're arguing whether or not to do something that will do nothing to effect the change of something. We've now wasted 1/6 a year and have accomplished nothing. Coincedently if this had passed with flying colors within the first 2 months the result would have still been: nothing

meanwhile the earth MAY be heating up
oil prices are no closer to going down
we're paying into a social security we'll NEVER see a dime of
the only people in our country who can comfortably get health care are the very rich and illegal immigrants
those immigrants are still coming

and congress is STILL doing nothing

thank god we elected the Democrats, this country has really turned a corner :(

i think one of the major issues the dem's are to address is ethics reform...
especially the corrupt as all fuck repub's
didn't they already vote in new ethics reforms?

its kinda like trying to clean up a house after a 2 year old has been going ape shit crazy in it for 6+ years...
there's so many shit stains and baboon ass crayon drawings on the walls you can't expect it to just magically get better

yes and one of the Dems put in charge of it was caught with thousands of dollars of dirty money in his freezer in the 90's. In his defense I would assume he knows allot about bad ethics.

it wasn't reform, it was "our asshole are gonna police your asshole"

and don't kid yourselves, these problems weren't caused in 6 years, they've been coming down the pike for decades, their just to bad to dismiss now.

so can we agree that the country is more or less completely fucked regardless of which party is running the show?

that's why I've used the metaphor about the two kids fighting over the candy bar, the parent (us) needs to take it away and give it to the third child who's behaving (in dependants)

I will say that when the GOP ran the hill terrorism was our main enemy, now 80% of the disparaging comments made on capitol hill are made against our President. And while he might not be the greatest man to ever sit in the office he is still on "our team"

And while he might not be the greatest man to ever sit in the office he is still on "our team"
but what team is our team?
hatred against america is way up around the world
and the national debt (that you and i need to pay off) has skyrocketed
while corp profits are hitting all time highs

debt goes up, our tax bill goes up, corp make money

where do you and i fit into that team except getting stuck with the tab?

but what team is our team?

our team has been defined by The Taliban, Bin Laden, Iran and others as "All those who refuse to live under Islamic law". I know it's crazy but that's how they think, and that's exactly why we should remain united and focused on winning the war

national debt?
corp profits?

you think the Dem's give a shit about those either? That was the first point I was going for on this thread. They're sole purpose is to paint the GOP as evil to pave the way for a Dem president in 2008, there is NO focus on the country.

And that wasn't the goal of the GOP in the previous elections? What about the 2006 mids? Remember "The Stakes"? C'mon...

The reason I am happy (and the only reason I voted Dem in 06) about the Dems taking Congress is that shit is balanced out. Before it was GOP, GOP, GOP... checks and balances cannot work when it's all one sided.

I still wanna know where Bin Laden is.

ok, so their goal is to destroy the United states
the war on terror is bankrupting the country
its a win win for them
we are spending borrowed money at a rate we cannot sustain
sort of like russia during the cold war...

our main goal for the war on terror should have been to revenge the 9/11 attacks, plain and simple, bury the people that ATTACKED us, not those that said they would attack us...
after goal #1, then we can focus on those that WANT to harm us, but first focus on those who haved harmed us

Thanks for giving me a break, Silver. I'm so happy I don't feel obligated to respond to this insanity.

As far as Opinion of America, no where has the opinion of america sunk than within America itself.

this is exactly right, but it seems like society as a whole would rather let somebody else take care of it. we're all too busy with our own little lives to try and change the world.

myself included, i mean, i wake up in the morning and i don't think about how i could stop the national debt. i think about what i'm gonna eat for breakfast before i go to school. and what i'm gonna do on the weekend.

i don't even think about the war on terror unless i find out about some bomb that killed some people in some place that's 123434134413 miles away from me.

how do i change the thinking of a couple hundred million people if i can't even change the way i think myself?
