Just thought I would share temporary setup here while I'm building my B18C. Here are the spec's.

Stock B16A3 bottom end.
ITR head with CTR intake cam.
ITR intake manifold
Home made 3" CAI.
JDM DC header.
Gutted 2.5" random tech cat.
Muffler man generic 2.5" exhaust with MagnaFlow muffler.
RC 440cc injectors (needed for B18C build i'm doing, thats why they're on there now.)
Hondata S200

Baseline displayed is actually a previous tune i had on the same motor.. no changes. :shrugs:

Here is the chart.

Car feels very fast, especially with the recent 300lb weight reduction.

Hondata rules , nice oh yea and what did you get rid of to lose 300lbs
everything except a sparco drivers seat, empty dash and guage cluster. :) Although, I have added weight with the cage, I should weigh it again see where its at. Before the cage was installed it was at 2160lbs.

get the track motor built and get some real numbers :)

So this is what I am to expect from my B16? lol.

Ok sorry, this is my first car, my first project, and I really have no real world comparison for whp to actual acceleration. I'm a 19 y/o who's found his new hobby haha. I swapped a JDM '95 Del Sol B16A into my '00 Ex. The difference from the old motor was insane. I'm waiting on a few more parts till I hit the dyno and get a tune done. I've got a bored intake @ 70mm and throttle body to match, 4-1 headers, no cat test pipe, hondata S200, and short ram intake. Clutch, flywheel, clutch lines, master cylinder, and injectors are what I'm waiting on. When I hit the lotto, or save some money, I'll eventually graduate to turbo and do an all around upgrade. Pistons, cams, sleaves, etc...the expensive upgrade.

Now see, I live in Chicago. So it's funny to me, I see from your posts, that you actually GO to Modacar and get your tune done. lol, I've ordered alot from them...but being half way across the continent..ya. Nice place to deal w/...

So what kinda numbers am I to expect would you think? Actually, because I know that question is somewhat pointless, how about; What's your 0-60 on street tires? I measured w/ my hondata and got a best of 6.79, but the clutch isn't really strong enough to get the most out of the shift from 1st to 2nd.

O yeah, I'm asking cuz I thought I'd be above 200. But w/ mods, you just threw up the same numbers they rate the motor at. I am aware of the difference between crank and wheel hp, but idk...Like I said, no real world associations.

Looks like your setup is very similar to mine except you're missing the CTR cams. I'm guessing you'll be around 165whp. Ya, ModaCar is a cool place, i've known those guys for years.

I've never drag raced the car, so I can't tell you my 0-60. I only take the car on road courses.

Good luck with your build!

not trying to start anything or say that i know more than anyone else here... but really i'd invest in a high flow cat, as a high flow cat has less resistance than a completely gutted cat....

it has to do with turbulance when the air rushes into a gutted cat it starts to swirl around inside of it and causes back pressure and turbulance...

or so i have read and also been told...

correct me if i'm wrong....

maybe, depends on how good you poked at it i'd guess. my buddie's done his before and it looked mighty clean and smooth inside when he was done. but if your gonna gut it, just get a test pipe. no? if you've gotta go for emissions, it's an easy swap still. keep a cat on hand. i got a test pipe on mine and MAN is it louder lol. btw, why do they call it a test pipe? what would you be testing? lol. or it's called a straight pipe? idremember...

no 0-60 cuz it's a track car. i like that. i havnt made it to a circuit yet, nor drag :(, I do however, want to engineer mine for the circuit.

so the car your talking about here, is this a race only car? or is it plated? i'm a daily driver/weekend road warrior haha

its not a matter of if its smooth inside its when the air goes from the exhaust tubing to the hollow cat... heres my crappy paint version of what i've read...

so yeah... just what i've learned to believe...

ah I see what your sayin. well it's all speculation for me, but i'd agree. i still gotta say why gut when you can do away w/

edit: haha o yeah, that big honking barriar that holds us all down. Money.

Good points, I've heard the same as well. The tuner did mention something about my mid-range having that dip because of some exhaust restriction, could be it? The reason the cat was gutted was because the element broke up inside and I had to do something quick, so I bashed it all out. I've just been too lazy to replace it with a test pipe. :) Thanks for reminding me. btw, where can i get a dirt cheap TP? lol.

As for what I'm building next, I'm going to start another thread on the whole build, but here is a snippet:
B18CR block and crank
RS Machines PCT piston copies, 82mm
Stock R head
Blox HSL Competition cams

All the rest the same. :)
