what up guys... i got a problem wit my motor....i got a 98 type r head all stock with a gsr bottom end wit wisco 11.5 comp pistions...eagle rods....when im driving on the highway at like 75-80mph the car smells like buring oil badly.....i did a comp test to it and its good all across...my boy told me its the valve seals r gone...i dunno....i go throu like half to a qt. of oil a week depend on how i drive it.....let me kno guys...
 
There is a good chance it could be the valve seals. How many miles are on the head?? If it has alot you should just pull it off a have a valve job done and get some new oem valve seals.
 
You can lose some power when your valvetrain is worn. It wont have as much compression since there will be a little leakage past the valves. But from what i have seen these high revving vtec heads go through hell and they need a valve job at 80,000 miles in my opinion to perform at peak performance.
 
thanx man yea i dont kno the milage prob high i bought the motor like that sooo....i diff agree with you since i bring my shit up to 8700...
 
engine could also be leaking oil and dripping on the header/manifold downpipe, causeing the oil smell
just a thought.
otherwise its prolly your valve seals, or at worst you didn't seat the rings properly during the break-in of the engine after you put the pistons in, and now the cylinders are oval. . . not good.
 
i got the motor like that soo i dunno the block was already bulit and the guy i got it from bought the head from ebay so i dunno if he brought to machine shop....i did a compression test to cylinders and no leaks but i dunno if it matters....

a compression test isn't gonna tell you everything, I recommend you do a leakdown test, or bring it somewhere where they can do a leakdown test.
Leakdown testing will tell you alot more about the condition of the engine, here is a writeup on how to do it. it's not a complete writeup, but it gives you a general idea on how to do the test.

thanx guys ill get sumone who knows how to do it...ill post up what happens...if it pistons rings then fuck it ill put higher compression pistions like 12:1...
