Yeah so this has been going on for a while now but when i get rolling from a stop, you know when you first start moving, sometimes if i let the clutch out real slow the car will hop. almost like wheel hop but REALLY severe. What do u think that could be?

Also sometimes 5th gear grinds when i shift fast.

also something else... the tranny code for an 1999 civic ex is s80 right?

how many miles on the clutch, how much horsepower do you make and how do you drive? if your rpms are to low you might be bogging it out, and if there high and the clutch is worn it could be clutch chatter

haha im not bogging it down, its hard to explain, i do run it toooo hard, there's like 2000 miles on the clutch. when i got the clutch replaced early in the summer of last year they remanufactured the flywheel and i dont think they did to good of a job on the clutch. like at first it would grind into third the day i got it back from the shop but eventually they fixed it.

im looking at like an exedy stage 2. what do you think.

oh yeah and when it does this the rpm's are high not low. also forgot to mention that it has slipped outof 2nd twice and third once in the last couple of weeks.

how much power dose your car make? its probably going to be overkill with a stage 2. . . huh, that weird how it happens at higher rpm's. could be clutch chatter. . . or the friction meterial is comming off (serriously doubt that)

oh its a d16y8 with intake and exhaust. so prolly like 135? i guess thats a good estimate. you think that would be overkill with a stage 2? i want something that will last considering i run the fuck out of it.

i cant afford a swap so im stuck with that

your motor is probably making more like 110 to the crank and you can use a stock clutch, im almost 100% shure you dont need a stage 2 yet lol, learn how to drive with out beating the shit out of your car and it will last because your making no more than 10hp over stock if that to the crank

yeah so first off i know how to drive it, i beat the shit out of it because when it blows up, the i have an excuse to swap a new engine in. and 110 to the crank how so? theyr'e 127 stock.

you think your making an extra 30 hp from an intake and exhaust thats just rediculous

last time i checked 127 + 30 Does not equal 135, u dont have to be a math major to know that one, come on are u serious or can u just not read.

i said they make 127 stock plus intake and exhaust, should be around 135 now maybe a little less.

Still that has nothing to do with the topic, i want to know why you think a stage 2 would be overkill.

Being that your clutch is so new, its a possibility that you didnt break it in properly. (There is a procedure for that). If you didnt break it in correctly its possible that you've either glazed the clutch surface, or the flywheel surface. Or even overheated the flywheel and warped it. All of which would cause that chatter.

just to clear up what I ment smart ass, you have 127 to the crank then you do the mathamatics for horsepower loss to the wheels, 15% or so, that nocks you down to about 100-105 to the wheels, now back to your figgure of 135. . . do the math im not trying to be a dick head or a smarts ass, It was more of joking, but everyone takes comments there own way right.

and im goingt o agree with phyregod, if you didnt break in the clutch properly you probably cause it

yea maual newbie??? you dont know anything about me what gives you the right to call me that??? as for the other comments looks like we had a misunderstanding no hard feelings. i do however want a little stiffer clutch you know, something a little more heavy duty, so i guess i should go with the OE Exedy. yea and the grinding issue, is not from forcing it into gear.

the Exedy OE clutch can handel more power than stock, with a stock feel

its not third gear dumass its 5th gear its not a loud grind either its kinda a quiet subtle one

ive been drivin a stick for almost 2 years

Ok, how long have you been driving a 5-speed? Bear in mind that I started driving a manual when you were three years old.

Why do you want something more heavy duty than you need? Do you plan on further abusing your drive train? Yes, you are forcing the transmission into gear. That is the number one cause of a high RPM grind in third gear.

yea what the fuck is ur deal man get off my case. thats what iwant cuz maybe down the road sometime i will get some more power upgrades u idiot did u ever think of that??

oh youve been driving a stick since i was three big fucking deal dude what does that have to do with me buying a new clutch?

well in that quote is says they fixed it..... what i didnt tell u was that that time it was the third gear syncro that went out u have no idea what ur talking about, stop being so immature, im not gonna play the name game with you all day.

im a ricer how so, because i had a valid question? or is it the fact that im 17? how old are you? hmmm... well whatever

if somebody could give me some info on the stage 1 clutch that isnt borderline retarded like blanco that would be nice

MAYBE ITS YOUR ROOKIE SHIFTING ever thought of that one... how long have you been driving manual cars, blanco has some very good points for rookie drivers

yeah i have thought of that didnt u read all of the other posts...

i hate fucking stupid people

plus the main issue isnt about shifting its starting off some people i swear...
