Do you know if I can put a used D16Y8 vtec motor into my 94 civic DX and bolt the motor onto my original clutch/tranny? The stock motor is a D15B7 and it is shot. I plan on upgrading the clutch to a heavier aftermarket kit, but am not sure if this motor will bolt onto the trans. I understand from motorswap 101 that the motor is a bolt in replacement, and that the vtec needs to be wired. I guess I need to know what is involved in the vtec wiring. The junk yard with the motor does NOT have the ECU from the donor car that had the low mileage D16Y8 motor. ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE APPRECIATED.

yes the tranny will bolt right up also.you will need to convert the car to obd2 just by a jumper harness at rywire, and just run a few wires for the vtec and your ready to go

we ended up getting a D16Y7motor, non Vtec, and plan on using the intake manifold and fuel injection off the old D15B7. So can I use the stock ECU with this motor under these circumstances?

A d16y8 is a vtec motor?

My typing is not so good. We got a D16Y7 which is non VTec. sorry about the typo, but same question regarding the original ECU from the D15B7. thanks
