what is the recommended compression for running a pretty good size turbo, about 10+ psi.

I would stick with 9 to 1. Also get yourself the injectors, fuel pump, and fuel management to make it all safe and reliable. I recommend a obd1 ecu that can be tuned with crome, hondata, or uberdata.

Werd. I heard with turbo setups its all in the tune. I have never owned a turbo setup so it's hard for me to say.... I would try to stay in between 9:1 and 10:1 though.

what are your goals and wht are you doing with the car is this a dd or a drag/auto cross car heck i know for a fact there are many 13-15:1 b series runing 30-50 lbs of boost but they are drag cars LOL :D no 9.5-10 seams to be good. what size turbo you have in mind precision Gt32e or some thing of that size would be good for a street car and that compresion range.

Your compression doesnt have to be 9:1, but you would want to keep 10:1 or less. Doing this helps eliminate the risk of detonation when running higher boost, especially if you will be using pump gas.

9:4:1 thats a good ratio specially for the bigger turbo set up like a gt40r what turbo you running and what block

it's all in the tune
it's all in the tune

:) :) :) :) edited happy gilmore

It has alot more to do with then just the tune. Pump gas definetly has its limits, anyone saying otherwise just doesnt know what they are talking about. If we are talking race gas, then yeah it just is all about the tune. But I build ass whooping street cars that run on 92 octane pump gas. So I keep 9:1 or just slightly higher for that 12-14lbs of boost. I think that most people on here are asking for advise for there daily driven street car, so listhen to someone who has setup more then a few of these cars!!

You're right, it's not all in the tune, but once you get past putting the thing together, where are you? street cars or race cars, a proper tune will always net more HP and be safer/more reliable than no tune. I've only done 2 turbo setups, all the rest have been n/a and the difference between n/a tuned and n/a not tuned is night and day. If you want to get the most out of what you do to an engine it needs to be tuned, that's all.

shit must be tuned to make power and last. Dont forget e85 is pump gas and its 105 octane and cheeper than 87

not to thread jack, but really? I honestly didn't know that, they are building a new mobil by me that is going to have the e85, my car would love that when I finally get around to changing my pully to 12. Is it safe or would I have to modify some things to compensate for the ethanol?
