B-series head work on D setup

Okay, this is actually a pretty simple question.. why cant you put a B series head on a D series block? I dont have a B series block to compare with right now and I have always wandered you cant interchange. Say for example you can have both a B and D series be a 1.6L but you cant swap the heads.. is there something really basic im missing here?

uh yeah...but you've answered it yourself already. One is a B Series and one is a D Series. That's like saying "i know a pentagon has 5 sides and a triangle has 3 sides, why don't they look the same?"
