Considering buying a 91 CRX to drop this engine into. The crx has a D series motor how much of a pain in the ass is this going to be to swap in? what other parts will I need. Do I need a new tranny? Am I better off just dropping it into a 94 integra RS, if so what tranny should I use for that? Crx is much cheaper and lighter so I am leaning towards it I geuss I need some advice.

Correct CRX is better for the power to weight ratio. But some say they have probs with torque steer.

But anyways the parts your going to need for the CRX are:
B20Z or B20B block
B16 or B18 VTEC head
1995-2001 GSR(integra) water pump and oil pump
Since its OBD0 use the PR3 ECU
Head bolts for head you choose
Intake manifold for the head you choose

I have the entire longblock pre-assembled. im wondering what I need to get it into the car.

and go with the ecu thats for the head also, and dont for get mounts and linkage, and a b series tranny

Ohhhh................

For the CRX:
Any B-series cable tranny or cable to hydro conversion.
Mounts, Shift linkage and the PR3 ECU or piggyback it.
Your going to have to pound a dent into the drivers side frame by the altenator to clear the B20 altenator pulley.

You can find all the parts i lsted at hassport.com.
Good luck with it!!!

!

He's exactly right on everything, but I just wanted to point out that you have to do this to any B series into CRX, not just specifically the B20.

Just so theres no confusion.....

the ecu will def have to be chipped too... if you are using the pr3 it wont be able to dunp enouigh fuel for the 2.0 displacement... im doin the same thing in my 86 crx, im gettin all my wire shit done at rywire.com i suggest you check it out. as for the tranny, im using the YS1 LSD. hard to find but well worth it so you have some traction...

Yea I'm thinking about doing the same swap. But I don't have CRV 2L experience. With a B20Z/B and B16A head, how much whp/tq can you put down. I have the stock DX dual point in my CRX and am debating on doing the crvtec, flatout b20z nonvtec turbo, or an ITR.

I read up on a B20B (126hp/130tq)
and a B20Z (146hp/133tq? I think)
What years did the z/b come from different sites say different things

the b20b came from the 97 and 98 model CR-V and the Z is from 99, 00, and 01 CR-V's 02 and up is the K24, completely different block. I believe or from what i have heard the B20 VTEC will put down 180-190 to the wheels, TUNED maybe more or less but around that area...

my hybrid put down 222whp using a chipped p28 and chrome tuning.. i had a b20z bottom end. stock bore. ported b16 head milled 35 thousandths. eagle rods. 12.1 cp pistons. stock head gasket. crower 403 cams. edelbrock manifold. bbk 70 mm throttlebody. and a comptech header......... to much money for only 222 hp. it was a beast though. i had to run a race gas blend all the time cause i didnt want to pull timing from the motor.

Tell me about it. Built D-series = $ > hp

Next time(if I stay 4cyl) I'm going homemade turbo. BEST bang for the buck.

Yeah cheap racing is the best way to go unless your loaded.
