majestic. Nice helmet choices, btw. arai and shoei ftw!
well, i bought one helmet in oregon because i got a killer deal on it. it was the last one they had in the corsair to. oregon doesn't have sales tax so i grabbed it to lock in the price. i'm going exchange it here in washington for the one i want.

$520=oregon
$650+10% tax=washington

You have tried it on right? you're not just picking the helmet out based on a website and what they say should fit your head?

yes, i tried them on. this isn't my first helmet either. i wear a medium in arai corsair.

I've found that a lot of people don't. My Shoe-i is a med and fits like a glove, while another model of shoe-i in small fits a tad bit on the lose side.

I'd go with the first helmet unless your bike has some yellow in it, then go with #2.

no yellow. it's red and black. i'll make a thread after i take pictures of it.

I was trying to find the Arai dealer training video posted a long time back, anywho I ran into this.

Just a little rant to warn people who are thinking of buying an Arai helmet. I bought an Arai RX-7 Corsair Hayden Laguna Replica last year based on some very good reviews and the fit. Until today I've loved my helmet.

This morning I went to switch visors and a tab on the shield cover broke. Because it broke, the shield will not stay on the helmet making the helmet basically useless.

(Good thing I have a car too or I would have had to duct tape the shield on.)

When I got to work I got online to look up the part . . . and found a dozen reviews/articles/rants where this has happened to other people too! I then called the store where I bought it. They told me the part is on backorder until late February at least!! In calling around to other places I've found that either so many have broken that demand has outpaced supply or that Arai is redesigning the piece and the new ones won't be out until then. No one is sure which but the shield covers are not available anywhere.

To me this is completely BS. I now have a helmet that is useless until late February, if then.

So, if you're thinking of buying an Arai you might want to think twice until they fix this problem

this post was from a good while back, so when they said late feb, they were talking 4 months or so. there was no follow up on if he ever found one.

thanks for the post. hopefully they improved it for the 2007 models. the ones i posted are new for 2007 and should be redesigned.

Guessing a quick google search should give you some answers on that.

I do have to say I'm 100% happy with my RF900 but from what I've read Arai edges out Shoe-i in comfort, of course comfort is in the head of the beholder...

pretty much. i have read a lot of people saying the arai is just a little more quiet to.

i have heard a lot of people using ear plugs lately. do you have a chatterbox?

Nope, I tend to ride by myself. I dislike riding in groups. people end up doing stupid things.

You can hear horns and sirens with earplugs in?

Yup, in fact I think you can hear even better, the sound of the motor is fucking awesome! If you put earplugs in and just walk around your room, you'll hear things like how loud your footsteps are as with any running water or weird sounds in the room. its really weird,

Also, with earplugs in you can easily ride around with your visor open.

If anything blocks the sound of horns or sirens, the main thing is the wind noise, next in line would be the exhaust of the bike. then I would say earplugs.
